Oh wow. As if this evening's grasshopper wildlife wasn't enough, on the way back from a late night stroll around the block I found this lovely wonderful hedgehog snuffling away on the front lawn under my pear trees. I *LOVE* hedgehogs. What a beauty - snuffle away, eat my fallen proto-pears and anything else takes your fancy, welcome to the garden! :)

It’s been a while I’ve seen a #hedgehog in my garden (two years ago I think) but I heard something shuffle in front of the house and there it was, freezing as soon as it noticed me 😬

Petite visite du soir.
Pour le moment, on en a dénombré 4 différents (facile, ils étaient à 20 cm les uns des autres), mais on soupçonne qu'il y en ait deux de plus également.
Notre jardin, c'est la boîte de nuit et le supermarché pour eux, on a le droit aux accouplements mais aucun n'a décidé de s'y installer pour hiberner (malgré la cabane à hérissons qui reste vide depuis des années, enfin, les araignées l'aiment bien, elles). -
Dave, the #hedgehog 🦔 who visits my garden, has just turned up for his dinner.
In the dark, it's a very audible experience.
Crackling footsteps across the dry, parched grass, followed by the crunching of teeth on hedgehog biscuits. He's a hungry lad.
If you have wildlife that visits you, don't forget to also put out some fresh water daily in these hot summer conditions. Dave says thank you 🙂

I checked the trail cam footage from last week. We’ve started to get a couple of rats visiting in the last few days. I guess they’re hungry like other wild things, but I have now closed both the rat deterrent doors on the #hedgehog feeding station.
You’d think that a visiting neighbourhood cat would be enough of a deterrent though wouldn’t you?
