This past weekend @Jillianmarisa
and I went to a native plant sale and the place was a ZOO. Unlike any prior years and those were crazy too. I guess it’s a good thing that so many folks are interested in growing native. But when these tiny things are the best you can score from a multi-location day of hunting, that’s kind of crazy. -

So, just a #naturalist thought… If we want people to #PlantNative, perhaps we should drop the word weed from some of our best native plants. Joe Pye Weed, Swamp Milkweed, Butterfly Milkweed, I could go on and on… The muggles aren’t keen on planting weed.
Well… I guess some are keen on one weed, but that’s a whole different plant, and topic. 🙄

I knew monarch butterflies were in trouble, but didn’t think it had gotten THIS BAD. 🤯😭 Thankfully the population has seen modest gains against that 2013-2014 low. Still a far cry from 1990s and earlier. Please, if you can, plant some #ButterflyMilkweed on your property.

These showy coneflowers and southern prairie aster blooms are a surprise. You normally don’t get blooms until the second and subsequent years. So YAY!
