I haven’t done a #BloomScrolling post in what feels like forever. I’m always in awe at the abuse blanketflowers put up with, and they just keep blooming.
These Gaillardia pulchella aka Indian blanket or firewheel are in a pot at the end of our driveway and about 5 ft beyond comfortable watering with the hose. I try to keep them watered but it’s pretty sparse.

Anyone have go-to native plants (native to zone 7, Mid-Atlantic region, #Virginia in particular) that can take nearly full shade? My yard has a lot of old oaks that overhang the garden....it gets full sun for a window of about 2 to 3 hours early/mid afternoon before going shady again. #NativePlants #PlantNative #Flowers

Pleased to see landscapers ordering native plants on behalf of their customers....I've had swamp milkweed, yaupon holly, winterberry holly, sweet pepperbush (Clethra alnifolia), and Itea all leave the nursery in the last two weeks. Let's keep this up! #plants #PlantNative

Anyone growing echinacea and/or milkweed from seed? If so, do they need any pre-treatment and how long does germination take? Thanks! I'm wanting to grow extra native plants this spring to give away. #PlantNative #NativePlants

This HOA is saving their stormwater retention ponds with native plants and learning to let go of some harmful practices. “Some of the loudest skeptics and critics have turned into vocal proponents through this process.” #gardening #plantnative
