I noticed a funny thing that I made sure to mention to a fellow bat conservation colleague.
I always bring a borrowed bat detector, and for the first hours of mothing mosquitoes are eating me alive. As soon as the detector starts going of the amount of mosquitoes drop sharply. Whether it is because the bats gobble them up really fast or because the skeeters seek cover, I don't know, but it is points in favour of bats as efficient pest management.
