So, just a #naturalist thought… If we want people to #PlantNative, perhaps we should drop the word weed from some of our best native plants. Joe Pye Weed, Swamp Milkweed, Butterfly Milkweed, I could go on and on… The muggles aren’t keen on planting weed.
Well… I guess some are keen on one weed, but that’s a whole different plant, and topic. 🙄

Last night’s webinar by Doug Tallamy was excellent. He’s funny, authoritative without talking down, concise and very well rehearsed.
If you aren’t familiar with his message, it’s one of ugency and hope around our collapsing ecosystem.
He outlines how *everyone* can help. Essentially, #plantnative and #shrinkthelawn. In doing so, we feed pollinators, caterpillars, and imperiled native birds.

It’s not as bad as it looks. Will look better once we give the soil some time to settle before adding in the mulch.Back row - grey headed coneflower. Middle row - orange and showy coneflower alternating. Front row - two southern prairie aster in the middle with bee balm horse mint at the edges.
