A view towards the head of beautiful Glen Etive, which runs for 14 miles south-west from the upper end of Glen Coe to the head of Loch Etive. Once there you turn round and come back: but it's a wonderful drive to somewhere very special. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/glenetive/glenetive/index.html

If the reflection in the highlands of Glen Etive, Scotland is not beautiful, then where?

Just showed this to my son. He has identified it as a goat. I’m not prepared to disclose his age, but let’s just say he’s in secondary school 🙈
More time outdoors?! 🤣This is actually a camera shot. I had only a couple of secs to take it. Despite the deer hanging around for a while, he refused to lift his head out of the long grass! It’s blurry, but I’m glad I’m trying my camera!

Another phone shot, so the resolution isn’t great from this iconic photo point. I’m looking forward to learning more at the camera club I’ve recently joined!

Buachaille Etive Mòr.
Destined to remain on my fail list. I think my real problem with this iconic Scottish mountain is that it’s been photographed to death. That means I’m comparing with the best of the best and there are some absolute works of art out there. If at first you don’t succeed……….

Unfortunately I injured my knee while cleaning up my camp site in Glen Etive. I had to drive home immediately in case it got swollen and I would be marooned up there.
Drive home was painful since it was my left knee esp. along the small section of the Loch Lomond red, so many gear changes.
Here are a couple of phone pics I caught the night before. #scotland #camping #glenetive -
That's me off to, Glen Etive for some walking and a nice overnight in the tent.

A section of the River Etive about halfway down the glen provides a great photo location on both sides of the river (accessible by a handy old bridge). This shot faces roughly southeast and shows the power of the river when it is in full flow. On days like this, kayakers bomb past as they make their way down from the top of the glen. Little bit of a surprise when you don’t know they’re coming…

Good morning tooters
Here are some images from y 2022 from my Wonderful Glen Etive January 2022 album.
Have a good one.

At various spots by the side of the River Etive, rock pools are formed and filled when the river is in spate after heavy rain (a common occurrence!). Water remains in the pools as the river subsides. There are a few days in the depths of winter when these pools can freeze solid. This pool lies near the top of Glen Etive just below a set of double waterfalls. Stob a’ Ghlais Choire rises above the river in the background.

Being able to spend time in Glen Etive over the last few years has allowed me to discover various locations on the River Etive which most passersby tend to miss. This particular spot is fairly treacherous on a wet or icy day as the slick rock tries to push you towards the gorge. A good spot for long exposure photography though!

The single track road down Glen Etive provides a good location for astrophotography when you park up at its top end on Rannoch Moor. This shot attempts to balance the full moon rising behind the mountains with the Milky Way above, with the dark road leading you into the frame. The mountain is Stob a’ Ghlais Choire. As this is a long exposure, the clouds are blurred. I’d prefer a cloudless night for this shot but those are rare!
