The debris belts around Fomalhaut were imaged by the Hubble Telescope in 2008 -2012 and subsequently by ALMA, Herschel and Spitzer.
Initially, a planet Fomalhaut b was suspected to exist in the outer ring. In 2012, two independent studies confirmed that Fomalhaut b is shrouded by debris, so it may be a gravitationally-bound pile of rubble rather than a proper planet.

As we marvel at the image of the dusty debris belts around the young star Fomalhaut, published by the JWST recently (imaged in Oct 2022), let's take a look at images taken by other telescopes of this oft-studied star.
Most prior images show just the outer belt; JWST discovered 2 more.
These belts are most likely carved by gravitational forces of unseen planets.

Nun. Das #JWST sieht da mehr. Viel mehr. Keine Planeten zwar (die sind wohl nach wie vor im Staub verborgen), aber dafür nicht nur den großen äußeren, sondern auch einen zweiten inneren Asteroidengürtel

Fische sind als Sternbild des Tierkreises bekannt, am Himmel aber sind sie unscheinbar. Viel auffälliger ist der Südliche Fisch, den kaum jemand kennt. In unseren Breiten fällt vor allem der Stern Fomalhaut auf. Sein Name bedeutet „Maul des Fisches“.
