Forged in #FreeCAD: XYZ Micro Manipulator for Sub Micron Motion Control
It's a wonderful thing when you see a very cool #opensource hardware project and then a further delight when you see that the toolchain to build the device is also completely open.https://blog.freecad.org/2025/09/25/forged-in-freecad-xyz-micro-manipulator-for-sub-micron-motion-control/

CW: Compliant Mechanism Print-In-Place Car Phone Holder That Prints Well On The Worst 3d Printers (Easy Print)
Single part, ready to use the moment you take it off the print bed. Simple, visually balanced and well thought out phone holder from an independent designer - me :) . Smooth, satisfying compliant mechanism that holds the phone firmly. In a mesmerizing move, the holder opens up a space for a USB cable below the phone, once you insert it into the frame. How many times have you downloaded something marked as "print-in-place" only to discover the moving parts come out fused together, too tight or clunky? Wet filament ruined the print with stringing? This time there's no need to worry. This object will print successfully even on a machine from a different age on a terrible quality filament due to the compliant mechanism design. The elements don't have to roll, turn or click, they just bend. The clips to insert it in the AC vent are an integral part of the holder, see the video! There's a version with and without a cut-out to accommodate for a ring on the back of your phone case. It can fit phones up to 8cm wide (3.15in) and 1.2cm thick (0.5in) without model resizing. Remember that springs also scale when resizing, thicker springs will have more tension. Print it with PETG for the clips to bend back as intended, without breaking. -
