One article from *1980* mentions developments in #AutomaticGearboxes - and even dual-clutch #transmissions - and that AP (Automotive Products, a British company which already made an innovative 4 speed auto 'box for the #Mini and other smaller #BritishLeyland #cars) was developing a 6 speed model.

    Nothing much came of this development until almost 25 years later when #Volkswagen and #BorgWarner (formed from a company set up by AP in early 20th century!) picked up development and put the #DSG 'box in mass production in 2003 with the #DQ250 (my own car has a newer version of this 'box!)

  6. Il y a 30 ans, ce #Telex #Sagem SPE est devenu un compagnon du quotidien au cours du service militaire.
    Débit de pointe : 50 ou 75 bps. Oui, bits, pas kilo. Il fonctionnait d'ailleurs avec des bandes perforées en papier.

    Quelques mois plus tard, retour à la vie civile et upgrade massif : #Transpac à 64 kbps !
    Le genre de saut technologique qui faisait vraiment sentir le progrès.

    Vu récemment au musée des #transmissions, à #CessonSévigné.
