  6. The #evolution, #complexity, and #diversity of swine #influenza viruses in #China: A hidden public #health #threat, Virology: sciencedirect.com/science/arti

G4 and G5 reassortant EA #H1N1 viruses are the most prevalent in Chinese #pig herds. Clade 6B.1 pdm/09H1N1 viruses were found to be transmitted from humans to pigs. Three new #H1N2 #genotypes were identified using the genomic backbones of G4 or G5 viruses.

  11. Large-Scale #Serological #Survey of #Influenza A Virus in South #Korean Wild #Boar (Sus scrofa) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/388426

Detected subtypes included 23 cases of pandemic 2009 #H1N1, six of human seasonal #H3N2, three of classical swine H1N1, 13 of triple-reassortant swine #H1N2, seven of triple-reassortant swine H3N2, and seven of swine-origin H3N2 variant. Notably, none of the serum samples tested positive for avian IAV subtypes #H3N8, #H5N3, #H7N7, and #H9N2 or canine IAV subtype H3N2.

  16. Vieles deutet darauf hin, dass die Grippe 2023 Kinder und Jugendliche besonders stark trifft. Fachleute gehen von einer hohen Welle aus. I will soon start reporting weekly on the figures we have here (random tests on outpatients/ambulatory people) :
I'm not giving figures yet as I need to know first whether the tests are for patients with respiratory symptoms or all patients.
The #RSV seems to be weakening and #flu is now the most likely to strike. This year, the flu strain is #InfluenzaA #H1N1, but the #InfluenzaB epidemic could also start very soon, just like last year.
Very little #SARSCoV2 has been detected compared with the last wave at the start of the year.
The avian flu is still monitored in birds (more details next week).
