  1. Little behind the scenes video from the #doghouse .. I've been working on this 4Axis Hot Wire Foam cutter #CNC for a while and today I got it doing it's first cuts. Deffo a #prototype but fully functional as is. Articles soon in @rpimag and source will be shared #opensource. Of course all the red bits made in @freecad #FreeCAD #GRBL See toot below for the cut test piece images...

  3. Happy scenes in the #doghouse working on the next #CNC machine project. Having to use windows which feels weird, but whatever the OS its good to get this BTT SKR #Pico board moving motors correctly. #rpipico #grbl #grblHAL

  5. We've just posted "Forged in FreeCAD (and OpenSCAD!): OpenBrushoGraph.
This excellent and affordable hardware project allows you to build a painting machine that can plot with brushes and multiple paint colours! It's a great #opensource project that uses lots of open source in it.. #inkscape #openscad #ugs #grbl #fluidnc etc. #CNC

  7. Forged in : XYZ Micro Manipulator for Sub Micron Motion Control
It's a wonderful thing when you see a very cool hardware project and then a further delight when you see that the toolchain to build the device is also completely open.

  9. I'm wondering whether it's possible to have a device running #linuxcnc which can take an extra input which is continuously added to say the X axis to cause a variable offset in the X position?

Imagine a device which repeatedly traces a pattern on a moving conveyor belt. This is the sort of thing usually done with a PLC but there seems no reason why LinuxCNC couldn't do it.

I wonder though whether #grbl might be a better option?

Anyone understand what I'm trying to ask and have any ideas?

  11. Still very #prototype but my carbon filament winder project (soon to be seen in @themagpi magazine) is up and running (on/hanging off a very messy desk!) All made in the mighty #FreeCAD and currently running on #GRBL #opensource #CNC

  13. I have a Vevor 3018 #CNC which works great. However, the #GRBL based controller (STM32G030) firmware and source code is nowhere to be found. Nor are there any schematics that I can discover. SadPanda.gif

  15. Been reviving my CNC. Was dormant since the driving PC had packed up and I didn't have a real use of it, but now, I do! 1KW spindle. It IS a bit scary, and I have a few tool bits flying around the room at some point, need to re-learn it... #cnc #linux #arduino #grbl

  17. Finally got around to adding a blog post on using a Streamdeck as a pendant for my CNC router. Here it is, two years late!

  18. My entry for The World's Worst #Python GUI - driving a 3-axis CNC #GRBL machine as a delta robot for my micron-scale #3Dprinter gitlab.com/reprap/reprapmicron

  19. Side Quest finished

Pushed my touch control to a usable state. Found the awesome gerbil lib by Michael Franzl that sped up the process immensly with gbl buffer handling and callback infos.

Its focusing on the most important stuff and has low dependency and uses very little ressources with that 2d preview.

Designed to run on a OdroidC2 with VU touch screen.

  24. One of the perennially popular pages at Maker Forums is this one, which people are clearly finding because they are searching for a solution to a problem, and there are enough relevant terms in the question to find the post and the solution.

It's not magically great documentation, but being a public repository for questions and answers, problems and solutions, makes me feel good about spending time maintaining Maker Forums. ❤️
