  2. Scientists stunned after finding remote island blanketed in dangerous material: 'Our findings are deeply concerning' When coral reefs break down, communities can feel the repercussions. Fewer healthy corals mean fewer fish and shellfish that local families rely on for food and income. Coral reefs also reduce wave energy by 97%, according to the Coral Reef Alliance. With fewer coral reefs, local communities could experience more flooding #BeatPlasticPollution #evironment

RecycleABLE as a term has always been a joke. It doesn't matter if something theoretically could be recycled, only if it actually is.

95% of "recycleable" plastic is never recycled, but just makes people feel good about buying more plastic so others can make more money manufacturing and selling it.

A more sane way of educating consumers would be to regularly print on each type of material what percentage of that material is *actually* recycled each year.

  5. Applied Carbon’s farm robot turns plant waste into biochar to capture CO2

It’s incredibly easy to dump carbon into the atmosphere and accelerate climate change. It’s a lot harder to take it out. Startups are experimenting with massive industrial systems to draw the pollutant out of the air, with facilities costing hundreds of millions of dollars to construct.

That has some other founders thinking, why not use plants to do the hard work?

  6. The Delusion of “Advanced” Plastic #Recycling

The #plastics industry has heralded a type of chemical recycling it claims could replace new shopping bags and candy wrappers with old ones — but not much is being recycled at all, and this method won’t curb the crisis.

  7. Trump to Big Oil Execs: Give Me $1 Billion and I'll Help You Wreck the Planet

"You won't read a more important story today," said one commentator. "Trump is willing to literally destroy the planet for $1 billion."
