Hectic morning.
Head off in one direction for a checkup and then dash waaayy across town(s) for a blood draw. Even though I had two opportunities today, I'm not terribly pleased with the results(although I do like the smeariness of this one).
Regardless, my doctor's office parking lot photo series streak remains unbroken!
*shrug* Better luck next time. -

Oh. And to wrap up the day, we spun the wheel and randomly ended up at a wonderful, new(for us) Szechuan restaurant where I had the most cumin-iest lamb dish that numbed my mouth and almost overwhelmed me.
I had no idea that cumin was capable of doing that! Highly recommend!
It was a day of nice, little discoveries. Days like this are keepers. -

A couple of concrete wall and branch texture photos I took this afternoon while waiting outside a doctor's office.

Looks like there might be an interesting exhibit/presentation in my neighboorhood May 3rd.
Perhaps(!?) a bit of a cynical take on my part, but, it's kind of tragic that it is going to take almost 100 years to re-create the #PublicTransit connection between #EverettWA & #Seattle
There's a decent, if brief, summary of the early #history in the article.
“Before Light Rail; the Seattle-Everett Interurban Story, 1910-1939”

Ah jeez. It appears that the original article was restored late this afternoon with a few editorial revisions.
The following article details changes made:

A bit more background on the situation with the Herald(and other regional papers) from myEverettNews.com
"Mississippi-based Carpenter Media Group, in coordination with Canso Investment Counsel & Deans Knight Capital Management, assumed control of the Everett Herald and Sound Publishing.
Earlier this month, Carpenter also acquired two dozen Oregon publications."

More sad news for local reporting:
"The new owners of The Daily Herald gutted over half of the newsroom staff Wednesday, including the newspaper’s two top editors. "
Per Myeverettnews.com (via twitter):
"Carpenter Media Group forced the The Herald to pull down their own article(archive link below) about the layoffs as the truth 'read like a hit piece.'"

Another local #news outlet in trouble.
Black Press Media, parent company of Everett Herald, files bankruptcy
The link to the details goes to the Lynnwood Times which has its own issues(IIRC). It's mostly OK reporting(YMMV). I'm not savvy on all the details; but, I _think_ they also have ownership in the Edmonds News site as well.

Today is Point Elliott Treaty Day here in the northwest part of #WashingtonState, including #Seattle, #EverettWA, #BellinghamWA, & much of #PugetSound & the #SalishSea. On this day in 1855 the United States signed a treaty with representatives of local sovereign native nations that provides the legal foundation for all non-native settlement in this area, including ongoing legal obligations that we have to our #indigenous neighbors.
