I arrived in Malta yesterday for EuroGeographics'general assembly. Tomorrow I will kick off the second day with a presentation on the #eudatastrategy and #dataspace and what it might mean for the heads of 40 or so national mapping, cadastral and land registry authorities.

#Competition: the concentration of data with big players, their "data advantage" enables them to "unilaterally impose conditions for access and use", leading to an imbalance and "power advantage" when creating "new services". Same for data "co-generated … from industrial and consumer devices", that is your car creating data that only your manufacturer can use, but not your repair shop unless they buy a licence from your vendor. #EUdataStrategy #digitalEU

So there's no fully fledged #OpenData for private entities, but an encouragement to share (#sharing: bad word, let's call it #pooling). But, not a bad start for connecting a Europe with a massively decentralised industry in the field. #EUdataStrategy #digitalEU
