  1. FCA Book Club - Making Death and Life in Palestine: Social Reproduction in Settler Colonialism

NieuwLand, Sunday, September 27 at 06:00 PM GMT+2

In this collection of essays leading feminists come together to talk about social reproduction theory in relation to Palestine.

If the daily renewal of human life is essential to function in this capitalist world of ours, what happens and what does it mean for a person living under it, when the ambition of a settler coloniser power is to eradicate life, and undermine social reproduction in as many ways as possible?
Here, by examining historical and specific manifestations of Israel’s attacks on social reproduction in Palestine, as well as Palestinian life affirming resistance to these, the theory of social reproduction is reshaped and refined, capitalism and its inherent violence is critiqued, and we encounter another base of understanding aimed towards solidarity.

    🍉 Free Palestine 🍉

*The undisputable foundation of this discussion is the right of the Palestinian people to live in their homeland as free and equal citizens. It is not up for dispute that there is an ongoing genocide.

    The text is 192 pages.

There will be a donation jar and some refreshments available (cash or pin). Please think about donating something if you are able - a place like NieuwLand can only exist through the contributions of volunteers and friends. To learn more about NieuwLand visit their website https://nieuwland.cc

We will be meeting upstairs which is not wheelchair accessible. If you have access needs regarding the event please get in contact with us so that we can do our best to incorporate these.

The text is available as an (e)book on the website of its publisher, Pluto Press https://www.plutobooks.com/product/making-death-and-life-in-palestine/

The beautiful Het Fort van Sjakoo in Amsterdam is able to order the book for you. It’s good to place an order with them sooner rather than later, as the wholesaler is out of stock (but expecting to be restocked soon). Mention that the book is for a bookclub and you may be offered a discount https://sjakoo.nl/product/making-death-and-life-in-palestine/

In Utrecht the awesome Savannah Bay has said they can order the book and you can do this online, and it should take 1 - 2 weeks for the book to arrive ( but again could be longer depending on the wholesaler) https://www.savannahbay.nl/

If you want to attend the session but find it difficult to get hold of the book we will try to help so reach out to us.

You can find ways to contact us at thefeministclub.nl, where you can also see our code of conduct. We aim to be a harassment free space for everybody. If you are new to our meetings, or feel you need a refresher, please give the code of conduct a look to find out what behaviours we hope for in our sessions.

If there are topics or questions you would like to discuss please bring these with you. We lead a pretty structure-free discussion so rely on those attending to direct where we go.

We are looking forward to seeing and discussing with you!

  2. Marxisme School

NieuwLand, Sunday, July 19 at 12:00 PM GMT+2

In 1908, Alexandra Kollontai wrote about the main question that the women’s movement in Russia was facing: How do they ensure that women in Russia also benefit from the struggles of building a new political system? Even though the women’s movement has made a lot of strides since then, we see not just perpetuated inequality but continued violence toward women. Is it possible for woman to be truly free in this capitalist system? How do we work to improve the lives of people socialized as women and other oppressed genders, while acknowledging the need to pull out this broken system from the roots. Come to our study session to discuss the position of women in Dutch society and how the struggle for women is intimately linked with the struggle to change the whole system. Study Session on Introduction to the book The Social Basis of the Woman Question 📅 Sunday, July 19 📍 NieuwLand- Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93-95, 1093 XN Amsterdam ⏰ 12:00-14:00 📕 Reading the material beforehand is encouraged. Joe's Garage, Sunday, September 20 at 05:30 PM GMT+2

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

Today we'll be talking about Kim Stanley Robinson's The Ministry of the Future (the entire book). It's a speculative fiction novel about climate change and humanity's response to it. Painfully liberal in its politics, but uncompromisingly realistic about climate change. Everyone is welcome, even if you have not read the book.

School Without Masters is an anarchist initiative to learn horizontally. None of us are the teachers or experts, we are all teaching each other. We currently hold our events in Joe's Garage, a squatted place.

We hope to see you there!

  6. 🎬 ASEED presents: Seeds of Dignity (2025)

Filmhuis Cavia, Sunday, June 28 at 07:00 PM GMT+2

    Ali Alsheikh Khedr | 2025 | Lebanon, Iraq, France | 30’ | EN subtitles

Seeds of Dignity follows the work of Buzuruna Juzuruna, a grassroots collective of farmers and seed activists in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley who are reclaiming food production from the control of agribusiness and global seed corporations. Through the collection, multiplication, and free distribution of heirloom seeds, they challenge agricultural dependency and work toward food sovereignty across the region.

Set against the backdrop of economic collapse, war, displacement, and the enduring legacies of colonialism, the film explores how struggles over seeds are inseparable from broader struggles for political autonomy, collective self-determination, and social justice. Extending beyond Lebanon, the collective’s networks connect farmers, activists, and communities in Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, and Europe, demonstrating how agricultural knowledge, care, and resistance can circulate across borders.

At a time when food systems are increasingly shaped by corporate concentration, conflict, and ecological crisis, Seeds of Dignity offers a powerful account of internationalist solidarity from below and of the efforts of farmers and activists to defend the right of communities to control their own food systems, seeds, and futures.

The event is organised by ASEED and activist collectives from Iraq and Syria. The screening of Seeds of Dignity will be followed by a panel on seed sovereignty and international solidarity, to collectively strategise how to defend the right to the core of all life: seeds.

  10. Thirteen years Taksim Square Uprising, movie night: Times of the Marauders (Cem Uğur, Kenan Ağbulut, Ghetto Cinema Collective, 2014)

    Joe's Garage, Sunday, May 31 at 08:00 PM GMT+2

Times of the Marauders (2014, 58 minutes, english subtitles). Dir.: Cem Uğur, Kenan Ağbulut (Ghetto Cinema Collective). Door opens at 20:00, presentation and film start at 20:30. Free entrance.

This mid-length documentary, composed of footage shot by Cem Uğur, Emrah İlingi, and İmran Aydın who work at Etkin News Agency begins with the first moments of resistance at Gezi Park and concludes with a revolutionary lament for those who lost their lives during the resistance. We are gathering on May 31, 2026. Thirteen years ago, on May 31, Taksim Square was occupied and reclaimed by so-called “marauders” and “drunkards.” We knew how to drive the state’s fascist police forces out of the squares, but in doing so, a heavy price was paid. Salute to the people of Turkey and Kurdistan who took control of Taksim Square. In honor of the day we reclaimed the square, we invite you all to Joe’s Garage to discuss our Gezi Park Uprising.
A thousand greetings to those who fell and fought during the Gezi Park Uprising!
Everywhere is Taksim, everywhere is resistance!
Long live our Gezi Park Uprising!
