  1. School Without Masters - Book Club

    Joe's Garage, Sunday, September 20 at 05:30 PM GMT+2

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

The doors open at 17:30 and we start at 18:00.

Today we'll be talking about Kim Stanley Robinson's The Ministry of the Future (the entire book). It's a speculative fiction novel about climate change and humanity's response to it. Painfully liberal in its politics, but uncompromisingly realistic about climate change. Everyone is welcome, even if you have not read the book.

School Without Masters is an anarchist initiative to learn horizontally. None of us are the teachers or experts, we are all teaching each other. We currently hold our events in Joe's Garage, a squatted place.

We hope to see you there!

  4. Kraakspreekuur Oost

    Joe's Garage, Tuesday, September 15 at 07:00 PM GMT+2

Do you think it is unreasonable that your fundamental right to safe shelter is not taken into account? Are you angry because speculators are taking advantage of the housing shortage and the government is just pretending that it doesn't care? Despite the fact that squatting is forbidden in the Netherlands, it still continues. For people who actively act for the right to housing, mutual aid is self-evident. Given the reason for squatting, namely the social problem of housing shortage, squatters generally act as a kind of union.
When preparing a squatting action, during the squatting action itself and when you are inside the squat, there is always advice and support from other squatters. People are happy to stand by you almost unconditionally, but you have to take the initiative yourself and you have to make the final choices yourself. In practice, this means that you have to know how to find an empty house yourself, find out for yourself why and how long it has been vacant, put together your own group and ultimately live there yourself. Of course, you can count on practical help as long as you make a clear plan and coordinate its implementation.

If this approach seems suitable to you to do something about your own housing shortage and the housing shortage in general, come along to the squatting consultancy hour every Tuesday in Joe's Garage.
