Van 30 september t/m 11 oktober is het Kinderboekenweek. Het thema van dit jaar is Spot aan! En dat thema is ons in het Plein Theater natuurlijk op het lijf geschreven.

In kinderboeken vind je podiumbeesten in alle soorten en maten. Voor of achter de schermen, met plankenkoorts of zonder. Tijdens Kinderboekenweek 2026 draait alles om theater, muziek, dans, voordracht en de magie van het podium.
Op de planken in het Plein Theater
In samenwerking met De Rode Loper op School, hét startpunt voor kunst- en cultuureducatie in het basisonderwijs in Amsterdam, ontvangt het Plein Theater al tientallen jaren basisschoolkinderen uit de buurt. Jaarlijks komen honderden kinderen naar het theater om zich te laten verrassen, verwonderen en inspireren door jeugdtheater.
Ook dit jaar staat er weer een geweldig leuk programma klaar, met drie bijzondere voorstellingen, geïnspireerd op kinderboeken én het podium.
Anansi de spin viert feest (3+) – Klein Amsterdam Producties
Anansi de spin is terug! Een eigenzinnige en muzikale voorstelling vol fantasie, humor en avontuur, gebaseerd op het geliefde prentenboek Anansi de spin en de gulzige Tijger van schrijver Iven Cudogham.
Berend Boekenvreter (4+) – KRIJT
Een ontroerende voorstelling vol poppenspel, verbeelding en herkenbare emoties. Berend Boekenvreter gaat over vriendschap, verhuizen, moed verzamelen en buitenspelen – en over de bijzondere wereld die je in boeken kunt ontdekken.
De voorstelling is geïnspireerd op bekende én minder bekende oude kinderboeken uit de STOK-bibliotheek.
Donnie wil de hoofdrol (4+) – Donnie Stories
Donnie wil dolgraag de rol van prinses spelen in de musical op school. Maar juf Ruth vindt dat geen goed idee: hij is toch geen meisje? Dan speelt Donnie maar de rol van de gevaarlijke draak. Alleen... de liedjes van de prinses vindt hij nog steeds het allerleukst.
Donnie wil de hoofdrol is een interactieve voorstelling over jezelf mogen zijn, dromen en de vrijheid om te spelen wie je wilt. De voorstelling is gebaseerd op het gelijknamige boek van Lisa Maschhaupt, met illustraties van Saša Ostoja.

AFICIONADO – Flamenco Moro brings together two traditions that are closer to one another than they first appear: flamenco and the Moorish-Andalusian music of Morocco. Alaa Zouiten discovered flamenco through Paco de Lucía and from 2015 travelled repeatedly to Andalusia to learn it — and in the process found his way back to the music of his own country. Flamenco palos supply the form, while the material moves freely between the two shores: a fandango opens onto an old Andalusian nuba, a tango turns North African in its rhythm, an Arabic samai leads into a soleá flamenca. The oud carries all of it. The album of the same name was released in April 2025 and awarded four stars by Songlines. In the trio format — oud, guitar and percussion — the music draws closer together, more chamber-like and more open to the moment. The boundaries fall and clear the horizon — for the beauty of music

Alaa Zouiten — oud, composition (MA)
Alaa Zouiten is an oud player and composer based in Berlin. Born in Casablanca and trained at the Conservatoire National de Marrakech, he began his career in Moroccan fusion as a member of the Gnawa-rock band Jbara. Since then he has worked across jazz-rock, Arabic-Andalusian repertoire, flamenco, orchestral music and theatre: his debut Hada Makan (2012) was followed by Talking Oud (2015), supported by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, in which he pushed the sonic and technical limits of his instrument. As soloist and musical director he has worked with the Global Arabian Music Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonie, with the Babylon Orchestra at the Bachfest Leipzig and at the Neuköllner Oper, where he appeared in Haydar Tanzt more than forty times; in 2025 he led the world premiere of Memories of Alhambra at the Royal Opera House Muscat. His album AFICIONADO – Flamenco Moro (2025) was awarded four stars by Songlines and has been performed at the Bienal del Flamenco in Seville and on tour in China, among others. His work rests on what he calls plaisir transculturel: the pleasure of moving between traditions.
Naoufal Montassere — guitar (MA)
Moroccan guitarist Naoufal Montassere lives in Berlin and plays a fusion of flamenco and Latin guitar with oriental influences, without either language losing its essence. The duo album Serendipia with Argentine guitarist Diego Romero appeared in 2021, followed by his solo album Osoul in 2022. In Berlin he also leads his own Naoufal Montassere Quartet.
Antonio Moreno “Pumuki” — percussion (ESP)
Antonio Moreno “Pumuki,” born in Cieza (Murcia) in 1972, came to flamenco by way of rock and metal, and spent eleven years in Madrid — eight of them at the tablao Cardamomo. He has played and worked with Enrique Morente, Tomatito, Diego “El Cigala,” Carles Benavent and Jorge Pardo, and is now a fixture of Berlin’s flamenco scene, notably with Azuleo. He teaches cajón and flamenco rhythm at Centro Flamenco Berlin.

Multisex Amsterdam

For the first time, we're bringing our signature spatial design and room curation to Levenslang - the Netherlands' former largest prison, now reborn as a space unlike anything else. Together with the new owner, we stripped the location down to its bare minimum and are redesigning the dance floor, spatial&lighting design completely from scratch. We are adding a second room and dance floor for this event, making our debut at Levenslang also their first extended event in this space. As usual, we bring our entire team from Berlin to deliver the full Multisexual Dance Experience. You'll find the full program below, along with more information at the bottom of the page.
The Club opens at midnight with a Dutch selector and former resident of one of Amsterdam's most legendary - now closed - clubs, known for hypnotic, gradually unfolding sets that can stretch past five hours. He passes to a Berlin-based digger and self-described sound archeologist, weaving warm house grooves together with emotional, genre-spanning discoveries pulled from Japanese library records, German electronic experiments and jazz. As sunrise breaks, a Dutch producer and DJ raised in The Hague takes over - a former resident of Amsterdam's most influential clubs and a Dekmantel affiliate, running his own label and building deep, atmospheric house journeys from an ever-expanding record collection. He hands over to a British-Nigerian, Berlin-based DJ and label founder who also co-runs one of the city's leading community radio stations - his sets draw on the basslines and spatial effects of Jamaican and UK sound system culture to guide a rolling, dubbed-out blend of house and techno.
As the sun climbs higher, a Canadian-born techno originator whose stripped-back, machine-driven sound reshaped the genre in the '90s - founder of a trailblazing label and longtime pioneer of digital DJ technology - brings the afternoon into focus. He passes to a Berlin-based selector whose decade-plus residency in one of the city's most playful rooms has defined a sound of groove-led house, tribal-leaning techno and the flirtatious heartbeat of a good ballroom, and whose own party channels its proceeds toward marginalised communities. Closing the Club is a Paris-born duo of brothers whose warm-lit, shadow-bathed celebrations helped shape their city's queer scene from 2011 onward - longtime residents of a beloved Berlin party since 2016, known for captivating ten-hour closing sets and a sound distilling house to its most percussive, entrancing form, joining us once again at Multisex.
The Expo brings back the beloved Addit Audio soundsystem, easing in at sunrise with an Amsterdam-based musician, producer, composer and classically trained pianist, weaving voice and texture into hypnotic, cinematic soundscapes at the intersection of ambient, downtempo, minimal and dub techno, before drifting into deeper club territory. She passes to an interdisciplinary artist, designer and DJ from Beirut, now based in Amsterdam, whose sets walk the tightrope between listening music and dancing music across dub, IDM, trance and ambient techno - also the co-founder of an initiative calling for the revival of the 90s chill-out room. Next, a dancer-turned-selector whose genre-fluid sets blend groovy beats, unexpected twists and powerful messages. As afternoon unfolds, a project moving fluidly between techno, bass and downtempo takes the room on a drifting journey between genres and forms, chasing trance, appeasement and a thorough connection between body and mind. Closing out as the sun sets is a German-Greek selector and label founder spinning wax since the early 90s, an avid vinyl collector known for a broad, pigeonhole-free view of electronic music and a three-decks approach that lets the tracks - and the "what the hell is this?" moments - do the talking.Lineup:

IT’S ABOUT TIME!! proudly presents composers Thanasis Deligiannis and Amba Klapwijk!
Thanasis will share excerpts from some of his recent works and talk about how he makes them. In his practice, he is interested in the creative process more than in composing a predetermined result – working with time, resources, materials and spaces as part of the composition itself, and being attentive to the different relationships that develop with collaborators. This also raises questions about what it means to call oneself a composer when composition expands beyond music, and when working across disciplines becomes transdisciplinary. He would like to bring these questions into the presentation and open them up for discussion.
Thanasis Deligiannis is an artist, composer and director based in Amsterdam. His work moves between sound, performance, visual installation and research, with a particular interest in the tensions and exchanges between rural and urban cultures. He composes experiences in time and space, designing the conditions through which a work can take shape. Alongside his artistic work, he teaches at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
“I will present an ongoing project in which I’m collaborating with pianist Carlota Carvalho and artist Akina Yoshitake Lopez. The project includes a musical composition for solo piano (Teder), a film, and a live performance. We will look at some video fragments of the film in progress, listen to Teder, and I will share my thoughts on this project and how we could continue.”
Amba Klapwijk is a composer and creator based in The Hague. She is inspired by landscapes, experiences in nature, poetry, philosophy and visual arts. Sea foam, seasonal changes, light reflections, long subtle sound changes, and immersiveness fascinate her. Her work includes musical compositions, installations, film, poetry and photography. In 2019, she was artist-in-residence at the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory in America, a biological field station and nature preserve. Her work has been performed by the Herz Ensemble, Ensemble Klang, the Residentie Orkest, the Rotterdam Student Orchestra, Kristia Michael and the Kali Ensemble, and Input Duo.

Small Miracles
Small Miracles is a series of interdisciplinary programs that tend to the existing and possible communities of Plein Theater. Taking place across different Saturdays throughout the year, the series brings together diverse artistic practices in extended, durational formats.
Each Saturday is dedicated to a word—or a word-mode—that serves as an invitation to explore the possibilities a theater offers for coming together. With a focus on desirable abundances and communal luxury, the programming of Small Miracles leans toward words aligned with these notions.
#5: Small Miracle 5: Stretch
We welcome you to a gathering dedicated to Stretch: exploring what happens when we extend beyond the boundaries we hold over time. Stretching as expansion and remaining with something long enough for it to change sense and meaning. As autumn draws in, the rhythm of Small Miracles shifts with the season. After the long, extended gatherings of spring and summer, this edition takes on a slower, shorter form, conceived as one continuous programme to experience together from beginning to end.
Through an exhibition and text by Radna Rumping on the floating gardens (Drijvende Tuinen) of Amsterdam Oost, their history and changing role within the city’s landscape and idiosyncrasy; a screening of Shopping Bags, Spirits and Freeway Fetishes: Reflections on Ritual Space by Barbara McCullough, exploring how nine artists based in Los Angeles use habitual actions and spaces to generate "spiritually cathartic experiences" (Third World Reel); a Sparkling Ritual by YuJing Liu; a sonic offering by Phantom Wizard in the theater; and a shared lunch by Monica Tormell (Käket), the gathering moves between bodies, infrastructures, sounds, places and ways of being together, asking what happens when we stretch across an extended time together.
As mentioned above, this is a continuous day programme, we hope to see you early to experience it all: doors open 11:30, the film starts at 12.00, lunch will be served, and the programme finishes around 16:00.

About the artists
Radna Rumping is an Amsterdam-based curator, artist and writer. Her work is relational and collaborative, engaging with public space, experimental archiving, forms of gathering, and conditions of (in)visibility. She gravitates toward artistic practices that defy categorisation, with a particular interest in sound and performance. She is co-founder of Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee, online radio dedicated to the arts. “Vira”, in Portuguese, means to turn or transform something — a situation, a scenario — in a positive way. VIRA becomes the cultural link between Brazil and the Netherlands, pulsing with music, art, nightlife, and the vibrant energy of both countries.
During ADE Week, Studio/K will be transformed into a free public exhibition space where photography, film, and digital storytelling come together. A photography exhibition featuring images from São Paulo and Amsterdam highlights the connections between the two cities.
The program concludes with an indepth session on 24th of October featuring members of Encosta and ONDA Collective, followed by “Beats & Bites,” an informal networking event that brings together artists, musicians, creatives, visitors, and professionals from the Dutch and Brazilian creative sectors.
The exhibition is free to visit, Wed-Sat 16:00-22:00.

Onda Collective — VIRA Open Deck Session
During VIRA, Onda Collective takes over the night at Studio/K. Onda is an Amsterdam-based DJ collective with Brazilian and Afro-Latin roots, bringing together different musical backgrounds and club cultures. Emerging from Amsterdam’s underground scene, Onda creates spaces where different people, bodies, and rhythms can come together. The name Onda means “wave” in Portuguese: a movement that carries energy forward, transforms, and keeps moving.
The four artists of Onda move between Brazilian music, Afro-Latin rhythms, and international underground sounds. Pedro da Mata combines heavy bass, percussive grooves, and baile funk with house and other club genres. Guiz draws from his background in funk and hip-hop and is known for his high-energy sets. AAlva explores the Brazilian and Latin American underground through funk, arrocha, brega, guaracha, drum & bass, and breakbeat. Co-founder Not Yet moves between garage, hard house, and Latin house.
For VIRA, this musical mix is at the heart of the experience. The evening creates a meeting point between Brazilian and Dutch club culture and connects to VIRA’s broader theme: the connection between Amsterdam and Brazil through music, art, identity, and nightlife.
Expect an evening where genres flow into one another, the dancefloor takes centre stage, and the energy keeps moving. Alongside the DJ sets, a VJ programme brings Brazilian and Dutch visual elements together to enhance the experience.

De Mezrab host iedere derde zondag van de maand het leukste Balfolkfeest van Amsterdam.Kom dansen en geniet van live muziek.
Blijf na het bal vooral hangen voor de sessie. Wil je Balfolk leren dansen? Vooraf kunnen mensen met een kaartje voor het bal zonder extra kosten meedoen aan een workshop voor beginners. Na deze workshop ken je de basispassen van de belangrijkste dansen. Je kunt hierna het hele bal meedoen.

SESSIE
Ben je muzikant? Neem je instrument mee naar de Mezrab. Na het optreden van Duo Cavez-Montenaro feesten we graag nog even door met een sessie. De sessie is toegankelijk voor alle instrumenten en niveau’s. Er zit structuur in de sessie, maar er is zeker ook ruimte genoeg voor eigen inbreng. Voor iedereen die geen muziek maakt is de sessie een leuk moment om nog wat na te praten, te chillen, luisteren of nog een paar laatste dansjes te doen.
DESSERTPOTLUCK
Naast de lekkere Iraanse soep die er in de Mezrab te krijgen is, is er ook voor de zoetekauw wat wils. In de pauze zetten we tafels neer voor het dessertbuffet. Dit buffet is in potluck-stijl. Neem vooral iets lekkers mee om te delen en snoep van elkaars meegebrachte traktaties. Indien je iets zelfgemaakts meebrengt stellen we een briefje met ingrediënten zeer op prijs!

Op Balfolk socials in de Mezrab kunnen foto’s en video’s worden gemaakt door bezoekers en de organisatie. Indien je niet op beeld wilt kun je dat kenbaar maken bij de organisatie of fotograaf.
GEEL BANDJE
Heb je tijdens het event een vraag, compliment of opmerking. Twijfel je ergens over of heb je te maken gehad met grensoverschrijdend gedrag en wil je daarover met iemand praten? Op het event hebben we minimaal één vrijwilliger aangewezen als aanspreekpunt voor bezoekers. Je herkent deze persoon aan een geel bandje om de arm.
NIEUW IN BALFOLK?
Balfolk is een social dance. Vergelijkbaar met Salsa, Tango of Lindyhop, maar dan op West-Europese volksmuziek. Bij balfolk geen shows of competitie, gewoon lekker dansen zoals ze dat vroeger op dorpsfeesten en bruiloften deden. Met familie en vrienden. Van jong tot oud. Iedereen danst mee. Je hebt geen vaste partner nodig. Je kunt iedereen ten dans vragen. Én je kunt door iedereen ten dans worden gevraagd. Of je stapt zelf in bij een van de groepsdansen.
In Balfolk is iedereen welkom om te komen dansen. Je hoeft geen danservaring te hebben om mee te kunnen doen. Je mag zijn we je bent en je hoeft geen speciale kleding of schoenen te hebben.
We willen graag dat iedereen zich bij ons vrij voelt om zichzelf te zijn en zich veilig voelt om aan te geven wat ze nodig hebben. Daarom vinden we het belangrijk dat iedereen die naar een Balfolk evenement komt op de hoogte is van een aantal dansrichtlijnen.

Palestine 36 X Intifooda Pop-Up

Palestine 36 is a spectacular, deeply human film about the beginning of Palestinian emancipation. Directed by Annemarie Jacir, the film features Hiam Abbass in a leading role, alongside Kamel El Basha and Saleh Bakri. While Yusuf, a journalist, takes a stand against increasing censorship and repression, his best friend Khalid becomes increasingly radicalized and joins the growing resistance. Their story unfolds in 1936, a time when clashing ideals escalated into an armed conflict between Palestinian freedom fighters and brutal British officers.
Make the most of your evening on Monday, September 28 (starting at 6 PM) by first enjoying delicious plant-based dishes prepared by Palestinian chef Intifooda Kitchen. The meal costs €12.50 and consists of various homemade dips and salads featuring bulgur, grilled vegetables, and fresh herbs. Ozan is a Turkish man who failed at toxic masculinity. This combination of stand-up comedy and performance art is a high-energy crash course in cultural subversion and absurd physical clowning. He performed this show at Fusion Festival and various places in Berlin, and now he wants to bring a violently funny, unapologetically weird celebration of modern masculinity to Amsterdam!

Tea and Land Stories, Stories of the cultivation of the cultivator. a middle play (Orta Oyunu, Commedia dell'Arte or what ever ) based on an unwritten script. Kind of a non-musical, it is open to imagination, interactions, and improvisation. “Imagine; One day somebody wanted to drink some tea. they just went to others land, end.” No worries, this is an imaginary story, the only reality is tea. Tea and land is a storytelling performance with melodies and memories while serving some tea to digest stories.

21:00 Sesten Sese: A Curated Evening of Shared Voices
This evening brings together three musical practices connected through voice, community, and collective memory. Opening with the intimate songwriting of Anllel Maria and Doğa Ak, followed by the mother–child musical practice of Dilden Dile, and concluding with the collective polyphony of Queer Choir Amsterdam, the programme moves between queer community, Anatolian folk traditions, diasporic memory, couragous worlds and intergenerational exchange. Together, these performances invite audiences to experience singing as a living practice of gathering, listening, and carrying stories forward. Doğa and Allel Doğa Ak and Anllel Maria are a kuir duo of songwriters and singers from Turkey and Ecuador, currently based in the Netherlands. Blending their voices through vulnerable songwriting, they compose in English, Spanish, and Turkish.
Their songs explore intimacy, brave other worlds, and shared futures, inviting audiences to tune in, to themselves, to one another, and to the worlds that can be imagined together. Opening the evening, their performance offers a gentle invitation into the programme. Queer Choir Amsterdam Queer Choir Amsterdam is an artistic initiative and a safer space where various queer and trans identities and voices are celebrated and heard. The choir performs original compositions, written by its members and arranged by conductor Vera Morais, in which soundscapes, improvisation and audience participation often play an important role. The choir's songs are rooted in both politics and introspection and allow for authentic forms of self-expression. During rehearsals and performances, choir members give voice to stories they want to share and to ideas about the futures they wish to imagine together. By bringing together many different voices, the choir not only creates new harmonies, but also celebrates the diversity and expressive potential of the human voice.
For this evening, Queer Choir Amsterdam will perform a selection of original repertoire, moving between playful, joyful songs and works rooted in solidarity, resistance, care, and collective imagination.
Dilden Dile is a three year old practicing band rooted in singing, listening, and making music together. It exploresinheritance, memory, language, belonging, and the ways traditions continue to transform through the people who carry them.
Over three years of singing and playing together, Meli, Tuncay and Aydin, usually accompanied by Mürset (Meli’smother) have come to understand music as a language beyond words. Rooted in Anatolian folk traditions, particularly those of the Alevi tradition, while embracing the rich legacy of politically engaged songwriting from Turkey and Kurdistan, Dilden Dile movesthrough the musical worlds of artists including Kazım Koyuncu, Selda Bağcan, Âşık Mahzuni Şerif, Âşık Veysel, and Ahmet Kaya, with a particular affinity for the musical landscapes of the Black Sea (Karadeniz).
At its heart, Dilden Dile is an invitation to gather around songs that have travelled across generations and regions.Turkish-speaking audiences are especially invited to sing along, remember, and recognize melodies that may already live within them. In this shared act of listening and singing, the songs return to what they have always been: living traditions, shared, transformed,and passed from voice to voice.

Banda Entopica – European TourBanda Entopica hails from Greece, specifically from Thessaloniki—the city where the members met and the band was formed. All the musicians bring extensive experience from diverse musical genres, which is clearly reflected in their distinctive sound. The result is a vibrant and authentic blend of traditional and modern Balkan music, centered around instruments like the clarinet, saxophone, accordion, and davul (large drum).
The live performances of Banda Entopica are a true experience—bursting with energy and intense interaction with the crowd, which explains the widespread acclaim they have received from the very beginning. Sounds and rhythms from Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, and the entire Balkan Peninsula come together to form an explosive mosaic of danceable music—at times ecstatic, at times profound and celebratory. Their repertoire includes traditional songs from various regions as well as original compositions that captivate audiences wherever they perform.
The word “Entopica” refers to the dialect of the Slavic-speaking populations of Macedonia, commonly called “Ntopika” – in Greek, meaning the local language

Secret Arts Teachers Workshop: Rap and Rhythm

As part of the exhibition Secret Arts Teachers, Framer Framed hosts a rap workshop by Jan Tensen, where participants enter the world of rap music. The workshop is held on Sunday 13 September at 15:00.Tensen’s workshop invites participants to use their voice in a brand new way, playing around with words, rhythm and rhyme. Participants start off with rhyming games and friendly rap battles before working in small teams to create an original rap that is performed at the end of the workshop.
The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of prior artistic experience. All participants need to bring is their voice, ideas, and enthusiasm.
From 11 to 27 September 2026, Framer Framed presents Secret Arts Teachers, a group presentation in which the classroom enters the exhibition space. The exhibition is the result of an international project by the Art Education research group at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, in which art teachers use their teaching practice as an artistic workspace.
In Secret Arts Teachers, art teachers work on the basis of a single shared question: what does art look like when you create it at the heart of the classroom, together with students? The project is based on the concept of the Teacher as Conceptual Artist, in which the distinction between teaching and making art is blurred. Teachers share their own artistic practice with the students and treat the classroom as a temporary art collective. The students are co-creators and the learning process itself is part of the work. On display in the exhibition are the surprising outcomes of these experiments, ranging from playful assignments to activist interventions and forms of (deliberate) failure.
Secret Arts Teachers was initiated by the Art Education research group organised by the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) and brought together twenty art teachers from primary and secondary schools across the Netherlands. During various meetings in Amsterdam, they exchanged experiences, developed new teaching methods and took part in inspirational sessions led by artists and theatre makers. This gave rise to new educational assignments that allow room for uncertainty, play and failure, ranging from activist actions to the forgery of a masterpiece.
Guided by guest curator Kevin van Braak the exhibition explores the question of how art and education relate to one another when they are not approached as separate spheres, but as something that, in practice, constantly intersects and evolves.

Gathering: Intersectional Archive

On 25 September 2026, Framer Framed hosts the second gathering of The Intersectional Archive, which researches the need for an archive as a place where fragmented histories and stories come together. The Intersectional Archive is an initiative of Stichting Humans of Film, in collaboration with Framer Framed and the Intersectional Archive working group, consisting of Noah Littel, Anne Krul, Tamara Hartman, Evie Evans, Tabea Nixdorff, Julia van der Knaap and mo Futures.What does an intersectional archive actually mean, what could it look like, and how should it work? During this public gathering, the audience is invited to explore these questions together, working towards shared insights and, eventually, a possible form for the archive.
The afternoon starts with contributions by Feargal Agard (Humans of Film) and researcher and writer Gloria Wekker, followed by conversations in smaller groups and drinks. Please register here.

The money of the voku will go to help support M, a 24-year-old currently threatened with eviction. M. arrived in France alone at the age of 15 and was taken in charge by the state's children services. He managed to find work in a bakery at night and was granted access to social housing. He also obtained a residence permit but at his last renewal, even though he had submitted all the required documents on time, the state's service did not issue him a temporary receipt (which allows him to work) while waiting for his new residence card. Because of this, M. lost his job and hasn't been able to pay rent for the past several months.
He is now threatened with eviction by the social housing company. In light of this urgent situation, friends were able to gather money to lend to M. so that he could pay his rents of the last months and go to a court, where the judge will decide whether or not to cancel the eviction order. This voku will help reimbourse the money his friends lent him to avoid eviction. Thanks for your support!!

On 9 September 2026, as a prelude to the twelfth edition of the BredaPhoto Festival, BredaPhoto organises Slidefest, an evening of artist presentations focussed on the SWANA region. Six artists part of the festival present their work on the mezzanine of Framer Framed.Each artist presents for 7 minutes, followed by Q+A with the audience. The evening is co-presented by Mohamed Somji, co-curator of BredaPhoto, and Farah Silvana-Kanaan, writer, editor and curator.
Artist presentationsFatima Joumaa — From My Mother’s Novel: returning to South Lebanon, Fatima weaves her images through her mother Layla’s old notebook, a meditation on grief, memory, and women as keepers of collective history.
Sadiq Al-Harasi — What Do Fathers Leave Behind?: an autoethnographic search for an absent father, built from family archives, photography, writing, and sound into an experimental landscape of memory.
Amera Elnaal — The Salt Ate Away Her Eyes: a tender document of her blind parents’ daily life in Tripoli, rooted in her childhood practice of narrating the world to them — stories in place of sight.
Noor Abed — we walk in our sleep: a film installation made with her community in Palestine, where language and choreography open a portal between the dead and the living. Noor will present film snippets and talk through her approach.
Çiğdem Yüksel — The Blossoming garden: Yüksel portrays the stories of Mohammed, Sultan, Lemia, Eda and Sema in a monumental tapestry in four parts. The five residents from the neighbourhood de Hoge Vucht in Breda, are pillars of support for their community.
Fouad Hallak — A Mind in the Past, Eyes on Tomorrow: after the Assad regime fell in December 2024, Fouad returned to Syria for the first time since fleeing in 2016 — photographs of streets and people he never expected to see again, holding fear and pain alongside something harder to name: hope.

Founded in 2025, ‘Chapter 58’ grew from the desire to explore different approaches to composing work live on stage without fixed scores or outcomes. Each performance becomes its own world, shaped by the performers, the space, and the audience present in that moment. The works combine a pre-curated playlist inspired by the title of the performance, improvised movement, text and live-generated soundscapes with a loop station. The group's work often moves between the raw, the absurd, the intimate, and the unexpected.
Since its beginning, ‘Chapter 58’ has created and performed Chapter 1: Let's Perform, Zwarte Koffie AUB, Loops I Did It Again, Not All My Demons Are My Enemies, and Once in a Blue Moon in Dijktheater in Amsterdam. Every performance, being sold-out evenings, has attracted a wide range of audiences from young adults to people in their retirement age.
