  2. The first poster session of #smbe2023 is tonight, in person in 2 venues (Estense castle and San Paulo cloisters), and also online in gathertown. I’m presenting my work on an active learning activity I use to teach #evolution to undergraduate students. It is in Session 21- Science For Everybody: Education and Outreach in Molecular Biology and Evolution. Poster 17 in person and poster 1 within session 21 on Gather! #ActiveLearning #DBER #TeachingAndLearning

  3. Letting our curiosity about our teaching and our students' learning guide the research process can help us turn our "wonderings" into researchable topics for classroom research projects.

  4. An interesting introduction to the "Scholarship of Teaching and Learning", or #sotl . I closed my Biology research lab after 15 years to focus my research on how to teach #Biology to undegraduate students (I have the same professor position). This text explains the different paths that one can take to become a researcher on teaching and learning: "Classroom assistance: the scientists turning the tools of their trade to education" #DBER nature.com/articles/d41586-022

  5. Who is coming to #SMBE 23 in Italy? I will submit an abstract for the symposium "Science for everybody: education and outreach in molecular biology and evolution" organised by Tugce Bilgin Sonay and Debora Monego. We will see how it goes! #sotl #DBER #education #evolution smbe2023.org/

  6. @matthras @MicrobialLife Thanks for sharing. In the U.S. at least, these #STEMeducation #EdResearch focused #faculty use the #DBER acronym. There's a couple of nice free ebooks on the topic:
