  1. 📺 Danger Man episode The Contessa (1961) featured guest star Hazel Court. There’s a jarring mention of ‘junkie’ from Drake which may have been unusual for TV at the time. Drake seems to be channelling Marlon Brando’s performance in On The Waterfront (1954) during his undercover work. The set-up in New York leads you to think Drake is about to take on Mafia hoods - but there’s a twist in the tale as Drake traces the source of the imported cocaine to Genoa.

  14. I found that #DangerMan / #SecretAgentMan is on Prime (as is #ThePrisoner and #TheSaint ). I love the Prisoner, but I’d never seen #PatrickMcGoohan in Danger Man before.

It’s a very fast paced show. At ~23 minutes, they cram in a plot that really deserves a 50 minute episode (like the Saint), so there’s no wasted moments. Even the dialog is rapid fire.

I appreciate McGoohan’s skill at taking on different personas and accents.

I can see why they wanted him for #JamesBond .

  47. I found this 1965 Danger Man Story Book in an Oxfam bookshop today. It's a superb copy, in great condition, but I must admit that I dithered over buying it. You see, while I like Danger Man, it's Patrick McGoohan's later series, The Prisoner that I am passionate about (and, no, I don't think it's the same character).

I actually left the bookshop, got halfway down the street... and then did a U-turn to go back and get it. I knew I'd regret it if I didn't.
