📺 Danger Man episode The Contessa (1961) featured guest star Hazel Court. There’s a jarring mention of ‘junkie’ from Drake which may have been unusual for TV at the time. Drake seems to be channelling Marlon Brando’s performance in On The Waterfront (1954) during his undercover work. The set-up in New York leads you to think Drake is about to take on Mafia hoods - but there’s a twist in the tale as Drake traces the source of the imported cocaine to Genoa.

The Criterion Channel added the full series of The Prisoner recently. I've been watching it as a soporific before bedtime. It's really quite terrible and boring; I might have to stop. Started rewatching #ThePrisoner last night. Looking at all the intrusive surveillance, mandatory broadcasts, and lack of available information in and about #TheVillage, I couldn't help wondering if that is what #trump and his minions what our country to become.

I've been aware of the show since I heard the Iron Maiden song waaay back when, but for some reason I never sat down and watched it. So glad I saw that Criterion Channel has it.

What tech in real life could I not have predicted from reading your favorite books?Activity trackers. That my watch would tell me how much sleep I got and how much of it was REM sleep. That my hubby could tell his Bp from his watch. Or that it would incessantly nag me to move more or, oddly, that it was time to go to bed.
Tech will not control my life. I am not a number. I am a free man!

This Channel 4 continuity card has haunted me since 1983. I always thought it looked like something Terry Gilliam might have come up with. I half expected McGoohan's eyes to start darting about, his jaw to drop open, and something Monty Python-ish to ensue. Perhaps McGoohan's head would bounce off his shoulders and chase Rover around the screen!
Quite gave me the heebie-jeebies, it did. Still does, in fact.

This poor lady had her own experience with that, as have many in various institutions, some being genuinely nightmarish. Like the Judge Rotenberg Center, for example. The parallels are uncanny. A hiverarchian world is a cruel one.

[P] And for those who didn't read that chain of toots? 1967's The Prisoner is an allegory for an autistic person living in a neuroenshittified, hiverarchian world. Why? All of the humans there who aren't lradership are hiverarchian homunculi who're addicted to fitting in, loathing otherness, and detesting questions. The leadership of The Village's hiverarchy is comprised of ASPD monsters. A microcosm of reality.
