  1. Ok, let's go #climate folks. Oskar Landgren is kicking off Polar #CORDEX with a talk on very high resolution climate modelling in #Svalbard and the implications for permafrost, glaciers and other Cryosphere processes...
Really like this graphic explaining the advantages of different types of models

  2. To #Potsdam for last project meeting of meeting season (aka Autumn). 5 day combined @PolarRES #Polar #CORDEX at AWI. Will be great to catch up with old friends but first a 5 hour direct train to #Hamburg. *Cannot wait* for the #ehmarn #Femern belt to be done.

  3. 💭 Imagine a platform through which people all over the world can access and interact with climate data and draw conclusions for their own individual contexts.

This is exactly what #EVE is trying to build. In connection with different #ClimateModels developed by #CORDEX, this platform could become an important tool to drive #Decision-Making to reduce the negative effects that #ClimateChange will have on our younger generations 💫

  4. The #Euro-CORDEX annual general assembly in Hamburg provides a status update on regional climate modelling in Europe and climate science needed for studying the impacts of climate change and regional climate information for climate change adaptation. #WCRP #RIFS #CORDEX #GERICS #IPCC

  5. @ingalls @RagnarHeidar output from Harmonie-Arome is a thing of beauty - but it's also nothing like as easy to run as WRF! OTOH it's faster thanks to the dynamical core...
I use the #climate version though, not NWP (when my inbox permits.. 🙄), currently trying to get a nested version to run over West #antarctica for katabatic winds, which is fun, and we have ALADIN physics for the mesoscale over the polar regions as part of #CORDEX.

  6. "our results indicate increased potential of the #Arctic for the development and production of wind energy..."

More interesting science has come out of our group this week: Unfortunately paywalled and #Elsevier - but this link should be free for 50 days (will find a solution for after that).
