Our @OceanIceEU @PolarRES scientist colleague Anastasiia Chyhareva of #Ukraine's #Antarctic science centre presenting early work looking at changes in precipitation over the peninsula, including increasingly frequent #ExtremeRain and snow projected for the future.

Also having a little moment, realising this room is almost evenly split between male and female scientists. 20 years ago when I started my research career, this was basically unthinkable.

@Ruth_Mottram Really excellent talk by Jun Inoue of #NIPR with really excellent new data on #clouds.
Good to hear the data is #OpenData too
The clouds are really still a big problem in #ClimateModels as there are so many knock-on effects... -

Me: oh nothing, just hanging out with 25 of my favourite scientist colleagues looking at cool cloud ice and liquid water path data...#WomenInSTEM #PolarCordex #PolarClimate #ClimateChange #Clouds...

3 talks in a row using #MosaicExpedition data from the #Arctic at #PolarCordex today. Incredibly valuable insights into aerosol transport, clouds, mid and jets, + thats just a tiny fraction of Mosaic obs. We're going to be using this stuff for decades. Here is Gunther Heinemann on mid-level jets

Very cool that some of our #Ukraine partners in @PolarRES have made it to Utrecht in person to present some of their results on #Lagrangian #ParticleTracking under the Ross and Filchner-Ronne #IceShelves as part of the #PolarRES + #PolarCORDEX meeting
Edit to add link to paper:

Off to #Utrecht today for @PolarRES + #PolarCORDEX annual meetings. Looks like this #CrossBorderRail journey is going to be cosy... The platform for the #Hamburg train is *packed*, and unusually the train is an old #DeutscheBahn coach series rather than DSB...
Somewhere on here @Hansen_Nicolaj should also have a seat (I hope) -
"our results indicate increased potential of the #Arctic for the development and production of wind energy..."
More interesting science has come out of our group this week: Unfortunately paywalled and #Elsevier - but this link should be free for 50 days (will find a solution for after that).
