"Agreement:" reached in ShinyHunter's breach of Infrastructure's Canvas LMS .... the cybercrime gang returned the stolen data (which includes usernames, email addresses, course names, enrollment information, and messages) and provided shred logs confirming its destruction.

Canvas LMS is down globally due to a security breach. I received numerous emails from my uni IT today increasingly concerned ultimately warning everybody Don’t. Log. In. At. All. So the end of the semester is tomorrow at 23:59ET. Lots of finals haven’t been graded. Lots of final projects haven’t been submitted. Nobody has alternative modes for work and no backups exist. What is the most likely scenario here?

@jameshowell When I started this, I wasn't quite sure anyone else would ever be interested in something so niche ... Anyway, I made the repo visible, in case others want to poke around in the repo.

It is quite astonishing, how the power of babel and the Org-mode export engine just translate to Canvas pages. I really hope I can make some strides to map Org to Canvas to include modules, assignments and quizzes, etc. in a logical way.

Seems like #CanvasLMS drop policy has fatal flaw when you designate a certain assignment to not be dropped. If a student happens to miss that assignment, then Canvas drops the SECOND lowest, which means it usually leads to a WORSE score than not dropping.

Does anyone know where to start if I wanted to use the #CanvasLMS API to publish course content pages (and maybe Beamer slides PDFs) from #Orgmode in #Emacs directly to my course? Or has anyone worked out a solution already? I would so very much like to not copy paste my course content manually into Canvas pages ...

I already had this code laying around but I integrated my PHP page that uses the Canvas LMS API to get my "To Do" list and am loading it into a proper freaking table. I can also get due date / end date and some other data but this is really all I need to help me with grading. #Education #CanvasLMS

Found this (new?) setting in the Course Accommodation settings in #CanvasLMS. I can understand giving students more time, but randomly dropping an incorrect answer from all multiple-choice questions?! How does someone determine that THIS is the right accommodation for anyone?

My university recently switched to Canvas LMS, which is a big improvement because of its API. (Just as a good game of golf is where you play minimal golf, a good interface is one that allows me to use it minimally.) But I have a couple of gripes.
1. The file ids and URLs of uploaded files are not persistent. If you re-upload a newer version of the same file replacing the original, the id/url changes and links break.
2. Base64-encoded media in html are stripped. I thought I could upload an html page containing pictures by producing a self-contained html where the images are included as base64-encoded strings, but because canvas strips the base64 strings, this does not work.

It would be nice if #CanvasLMS had a place for "private notes" on each assignment so I can make notes on what to update for the following semester. I do that anyway but it's in a text file, it would be nice to have it ON the assignment itself.

What WOULD be freaking useful in Canvas LMS is to be able to "diff" a course once the semester is over with my "source course", so that I don't have to be updating BOTH sources and keeping track throughout the semester.
