  3. given that Grav CMS is AI slop now,

    any static CMS you'd recommend? ideally one where migration from Grav is not too painful ;_;

  5. All of my Grav Open Source skeletons now support the Grav 2 Admin panel too:
    - Open Course Hub
    - Open MultiCourse Hub
    - Open Publishing Space

Learn more about each project, and download them, at:
    hibbittsdesign.org/Grav-Open-S

  6. The Grav Helios Converters – Common Cartridge → Course Hub and Pressbooks → Open Reader – also got a refresh: visual style now better matches the Course Hub/Open Reader themes, clearer instructions, and a new Preview/Markdown toggle.

Check them out, and view examples, at: grav-helios-converters.hibbitt

    #Pressbooks #CanvasLMS #Grav #Markdown

  7. Also gave the Common Cartridge Converter a small update: clearer step-by-step instructions (including a direct skeleton download link if you don't have a Grav Helios Course Hub install yet), and copy that's upfront about what your students actually get – not just what data carries over.

Give it a try at common-cartridge-converter.hib

  8. Small but meaningful update to the Pressbooks Converter: converted books now drop cleanly into multi-publication Grav Helios Open Reader sites – no more manual config file to copy, and simpler, shorter download filenames to match.

Give it a try at pressbooks-converter.hibbittsd

  9. The Grav Helios Converters — Common Cartridge → Course Hub and Pressbooks → Open Reader — just got a refresh: a visual style that now matches the Course Hub and Open Reader themes themselves, plus clearer copy on what your students and readers actually get out of the move, not just how content carries over.

  10. @dawgeth
I took a risk with Kirby. It is not free, but open source. I strongly prefer flat file content, full hackability, and wanted something convenient for mobile blogging. Hugo/Pelican crowd are too terminal centered, and #Grav had terribly broken UI, so I moved away from it.

One complaint I have, that RSS in #Kirby comes only as a plugin, and I even had to tinker with it to stop publishing template markup.

But when I'm back at computer, I will look at plugins for Activitypub (even two!) and #Obsidian connector. I have hopes to tame it for years to come.

  11. 🔧 Sneak peek: working on a Common Cartridge (.imscc) → Grav Helios Course Hub converter.

Migrate your Canvas (or other LMS) content to a Grav #Markdown pages folder — modules, pages, and embedded videos included; quizzes, discussions, and LTI tools not included.

Expect to review and adjust the results, but it should give you a solid starting point!

See an unaltered conversion example at demo.hibbittsdesign.org/grav-h

With thanks to the course author for sharing!

  12. @SolSoCoG Danke!

  16. 📖 Grav Helios Open Reader is getting close to 1.0!

Giving web-first open textbooks & OER the reading experience they deserve – without a database-driven or hosted service.

No build process. Built-in Admin Panel or local editing, portable #Markdown, and LMS embedding without LTI.

    - Save My Place across sessions
    - CMS editing & Git Sync
    - Multi-publication support
    - Plain text export
    - Grav 2 ready

  17. Last afternoon sneak peek at multi-publication support coming to the Grav Helios Open Reader 🚀

Host multiple open publications from a single Grav install - each with its own home page, sections, authors, and Save My Place navigation. No database, no build pipeline, just flat-file simplicity with Git Sync support.

  18. Okie so revisiting the whole site thing. Need to move away from the super clunky and def designed for techies Mediawiki into something less diff.

    Requires:
    - Multi users (I want help lol)
    - Markdown (Non techie writers stuffs)
    - Easy to mod themes w CSS ( I learned!)
    - MFA (pls)
    - I dunno, maybe some other cool stuffs?

I like flat file stuffs BC I can just back it up easy so that is preferred tbh. But I dunno a lot so I might be being stupid?

    Looking at:
    - Grav
    - Kirby

    (What else?)
