I got to play in a oneshot of Cairn #TTRPG yesterday. And we had a blast of a quirky fantasy game!
I really enjoyed both the random character generation and the very light system in play.

This seems pretty cool especially if you're interested in NSR/non typical OSR stuff
It seems to be going in a direction that's been interesting me recently - settings that are more local and grounded, about regular people rather than heroes, and about solving the problems of the community you live in rather than going into a dungeon and getting treasure or otherwise being detached from society

I am also in the Cairn adventure bundle! 12 games for $30 this month. My contribution is A Gathering Storm for Cairn, which I think is the first time it's been on sale since the Kickstarter

as I continue really slowly through my backlog of adventures, I ran Demon Driven To the Maw (also for #CairnTtrpg) today. Totally different from Tannic (which I ran last time, really great.
Some notes:
- I liked how it was set in literally Scotland. I like how Cairn has a lot less implicit setting stuff built into the ruleset and it's fairly easy to put it in other settings.- I wonder if anyone actually has tried running it in Fallen. It would be a really good fit for the Fallen setting.

After a few months of not being able to schedule anything, I got to GM a game. I ran Tannic, for #CairnTtrpg - it was a lot of fun, and also we actually finished a one shot on time, a thing which I think I have never previously done

Is there any reason why character generation has to be all about mechanics, though? Could you have a fun optional minigame before the session where you basically generate prompts for a backstory? A big part of Cairn is that you only really pull out the dice when things go really wrong, and you spend a lot more time in "freeplay" than say, 5e

I've been working on an adventure for Cairn. I need to fix a few things and then it'll be ready for playtesting
but at the same time I've also trying to teach myself to be better at doing my own art for this
