For today’s #StandingStoneSunday here’s yours truly at the Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland from last October. An amazing stone circle that was set up between 2900 and 2600BC. This is (definitely) a long shot... one of my ongoing side projects is researching¹ a mysterious aerial explosion in October 1996 off the coast of the Isle of Lewis. It resulted in a two day air-sea search, but no aircraft was reported missing. Ultimately it was blamed on a one-ton meteor by, of all places, a US defence company.

So is anyone on the fediverse a witness or knows of one?

Just in a post-coffee dream where someone had redeveloped part of Newmarket (#IsleOfLewis) as a sort of open-air Moroccan bazaar, but either it was snowing or painted white. Nice.

🤔 It occurs to me that while those speculative-physicists who say "a sort of #multiverse exists because in an infinite universe anything possible could recur infinitely with variations" are probably wrong, there's at least an equally good argument that most of the things you can dream probably almost exist somewhere?

Golden Eagle

From a magical morning on the Isle Of Lewis, when we saw a juvenile white-tailed eagle perched near the road, then this golden eagle flew really close by, and then a female merlin zipped past us carrying prey.

In the summer of 1976 I went north to the Isle of Lewis. I saw some superb photos in a pharmacy window that were not for sale. I told my mother-in-law, who I was staying with, about them. She proceeded to 'persuade' the pharmacist, the photographer A.M. MacDonald ARPS, to part with them. They are the most precious things I brought home, though I still feel sorry for MacDonald. They are now with Am Baile, the repository for the crofting counties of Scotland.
