#Oakland doesn't even pretend to enforce laws against delivery vehicles parking in bike lanes.
0 tickets were issued for bike lane violations to the big delivery companies from 2010-2022.
And only 33 were issues for other parking violations.

There was a pretty bad hit and run on a cyclist at E 12th St & 39th Ave in Fruitvale on Thursday evening, per this Nextdoor post. I'm not putting the victim's name on blast here, but it sounds like he did what he could in terms of getting appropriate medical help and documenting the incident. I'm glad it wasn't even worse.

Another bike lane video from yesterday. There is 20 feet of legal curbside parking next to these two empty pickup trucks, but their owners left them parked in the bike lane anyway, because they know the City of #Oakland tolerates flagrant illegality like this. This part of 38th Ave almost always has several vehicles blocking the bike lane, and some drivers even use it for overnight parking, because they know they won't be ticketed, never mind towed. #BikeOAK #BikeOakland #BikeEastBay #BikeLanes #Cycling

Drivers are always innovating new ways of scaring cyclists. Yesterday, right after I had ridden around one empty car parked in the Telegraph bike lane, the driver parked in the bike lane 30 feet ahead of it suddenly put his car in reverse as I approached it from behind, only putting his foot on the brake AFTER his Prius started moving backwards. (He ended up making an illegal U-turn after I passed him, so I'm chalking this one up to sheer lack of driving skills, since he probably didn't mean to reverse at all.) #Oakland #BikeOAK #BikeOakland #BikeEastBay #BikeLanes #Cycling

Oaklandside has a very thorough recounting of the automotive attacks on bike riders on Friday and Saturday, which were even more extensive than I realized. Impressive work by activists (and the reporter) to gather all this info.

I hope these incidents light a fire under #Oakland #Emeryville & #Berkeley politicos to get more serious about car violence, whether intentional or accidental. Not holding my breath, though. #BikeOAK #BikeEastBay @BikeEastBay
