Today at #aswf #opensourcedays was great. Some great talks (Anders had a ton of great info on lights in USD), but the conversations were make these things indispensable.

Such a great, engaged community.

Nothing like going to SIGGRAPH to feel both old (which is fine - I am) but also the warm glow of éminence grise-ness (not a phrase, I know).

My first SIGGRAPH was 1987 when I was working at NCSA.

I worked for the late, great Nancy St. John, who literally introduced me to everyone (you could still do that back then).

Such a gift that I still get to go for work.

#digipro was excellent- now looking forward to #aswf #opensourcedays starting tmw!

Tomorrow I‘ll listen to the #ASWF (Academy Software Foundation) townhall for #xStudio. I‘ll finally get to see it and maybe learn when to expect a first release of this secretive VFX review and playback software.

Spent the afternoon building an hda to automate the fx dept USD exports, from SOPs, following the #ASWF standards. This is going to help lookdev massively as now all assets follow the same structure 💪

I took another look at the progress of xSTUDIO, the media player and review application for #VFX. Seems like development is taking place not on their github but at internally at #DNEG. There is a development branch that got a few massive commits this year to sync it with their internal codebase.

Has anybody tried it yet or managed to compile it? It would be great to replace the Foundry's Hiero/Nuke Studio or the dog slow RV player...

This year’s #siggraph2024 has been amazing - and I've barely started experiencing it.

#DigiPro2024 was excellent. Great talks.

Spent most of my day at #aswf Open Source Days (day 1), and it was solidly informative, and the folks that were there were exactly who I wanted to talk to.

The #beersofafeather was, as always, the best place to catch up with old CG compatriots and the best gossip.

The #aswf crew once again did a great job on picking the venue. This might have been the best yet.
