  1. So, townhall over. #xStudio looks incredibly well thought-out, powerful and fast. Basically: what if a vfx studio built a video player that has everything that sups, producers and vfx editors need. Which, well, is basically what happened because DNEG has been using the just released v1.0 internally for a year now.

  2. Tomorrow I‘ll listen to the #ASWF (Academy Software Foundation) townhall for #xStudio. I‘ll finally get to see it and maybe learn when to expect a first release of this secretive VFX review and playback software.

  3. That event also has talks about #OpenRV and the mysterious #XStudio amongst many other VFX pipeline tools. Even about recommendations for h264 encoding of video clips you want to send somebody for review.

  4. I took another look at the progress of xSTUDIO, the media player and review application for #VFX. Seems like development is taking place not on their github but at internally at #DNEG. There is a development branch that got a few massive commits this year to sync it with their internal codebase.

Has anybody tried it yet or managed to compile it? It would be great to replace the Foundry's Hiero/Nuke Studio or the dog slow RV player...
