  1. You'll see contact cleaner from M.G. Chemicals or something like that. Specialty #lubricants you might recognize as coming from a company you've heard of - 3M or BASF - or maybe from another you haven't. Each one will be different. Why?

Because they're better. Companies specialize. And #professionals can tell whether one product works better than another - they don't need to be told by having "Professional" printed on the can immediately after the product name. Mechanics have been using their type of rust penetrating lubricant for generations without change, and will likely still be doing so for more.

Having umpteen products that would normally be from different specialty #manufacturers instead all coming from one brand, "WD-40", is a red flag. And worse, it's a brand focused on the #consumer market. Professional products don't do that. They don't need to advertise in mass media and try to enhance the "brand awareness" of their line. Consumer brands spend (waste?) a ton of money on this kind of stuff, and that money comes from two places: higher prices for the consumer, and lowered quality of product by cutting corners.

Someone at Princess Auto - almost certainly someone who has an MBA and never gets their hands dirty - has made the decision to source everything they can from WD-40. Maybe that company is paying to be the exclusive supplier of anything they make. Maybe the spreadsheet just showed a two-percent better return.

  2. We will lose more than our top netball professionals. Netball is us. It's being played in NZ on school courts through to sold out stadiums.
    What is going on here?

    RNZ Morning Report 1st July
    Quote:
Silver Fern Amelia Walmsley says players will be forced to look overseas or leave netball altogether if Netball NZ doesn't quickly come up with a plan for the domestic competition.

"It baffles me and keeps me up at night, we wouldn't be having this conversation with an All Black. There is the biggest netball culture amongst NZ ... I can't quite figure it out.

"What makes me so sad is then what happens to little kids who dream of being a Silver Fern one day. It's heading into the next year and we don't know what that looks like and what pathway are we leaving for them if we don't have a strong domestic competition in New Zealand, what opportunities will they have?"

  3. Here’s a survey for #publishing #professionals on #AI use in the industry. I’m going to take it, and I hope you will too.

Hat tip to my colleague @ecbrenner for telling me about it.

  4. @Geri @HighlandLawyer Thank you Geri, sincerely, for answering that. So it’s settled, Landlord is not an appropriate name for property professionals? Private equity for commercial rentals or private property rentals for individuals is the issue if no regulations, but now there are more for the later. No doubt the financial markets are infatuated with billionaires’ corporations, estates and investors like the unearned wealth of Duke of Westminster or the earned ones of the Candy brothers, Dyson, Murdoch and Branson etc. so we should expect more slum and drug riddled housing estates? Hereditary peers have just been superseded by oligarchs, and plutocrats but the monarchy is exempt. Hence, if I have not erred, all that’s left is to abolish the crony quangos, bribery and lobbying of antitrust monopolies. The point being, none should have to worry or fear the rise of those like Mr. Frog’s and his fascist financiers! #Antitrust #monopolies #rentalbusiness #property #professionals #socialhousing #billionaires

  5. @HighlandLawyer @Geri Or just consider how many hereditary Lords actually own and manage large estates? Today, in the 21st century those professionals in the business of property don’t want to be associated with corruption; those who run rentals not fit for purpose or who pay off council officials to walk the other way. Any in property, commercial or private can be as good or corrupt as those in any other business. The epicentre of economic collapse, is those who serve private equity investors first; to secure bonuses as free from any regulation e.g. the water utility companies who poisoned our rivers. Failure to ethically regulate those in energy and arms should be called the EnergyLords or ArmsLords or just Robber Barrons, as the consequence of unleashing those who finance fascist clowns and mobsters threatens everyone’s rights, peace, security and wellbeing! #Landlordism #RobberBarrons #ReignOfTheMob #EnergyLords #ArmsLords #RobberBarons #professionals #Goodbusiness #BalancedEconomics #JusticeIsFreedom
