I have been interested in trying gouache, but I know so little about it. So I was watching YouTube video while exercising, and woah! Good gouaches are suuuper expensive; $17 USD plus a tube. Now suddenly my pastel obsession doesn't look that bad 😆 (My favorite pastel sticks are about $6 a piece)

Any #Artist out there have any experience with Mirror Chrome Markers? Markerszone.com claims they transform any surface into something highly reflective. The question is just how reflective are they? I have a project coming up next year and if these markers can make a surface reflect exactly like a mirror then it would mean I don't have to pack/ship a mirror for travel.

I've been teaching myself to draw for a while. The book I'm using utilizes the "grid system" which has been super helpful.

I found an "artists viewfinder" at a local art store, but didn't like it because the grid was rectangular instead of square. So I made my own.

If you want one, I threw it up on Etsy. I also have the digital files if you want to 3D print or laser cut your own.

I've got an #artsupply question which is really hard to answer with information from web pages etc.: How do you prepare your nibs *beyond* getting rid of the conservant oil or similar coating?

Do you sand them? Adjust the angles with a whetstone?
What is your personal procedure to get from stock nib to favourite "your" nib?

I just published a short howto on how to fix a Rotring Isograph nib that suffers a bent wire without completely ruining it. This might be of interest if you got older Rotring pens that do not govern inkflow anymore due to a bent wire inside the nib. This is my first video in howto/tutorial form. Please let me know if it is helpful, or if I could do anything better.

Mastodon! I come bearing ink tests!

Ordered a bunch of little samples to play around with, and my personal taste in ink is incredibly...muddy. These are on different papers, applied with a dip nib rather than a fountain pen.
