Day #4 of a cold going around the house - hit the #2yo and wife last night. I was up half the night comforting the kiddo and sleeping on the couch so the wife could have some relief. Taking the day off today to care for the #kids (the #4yo is on the mend!) and let the wife rest more... And to await my inevitable fate. I feel like this bit from #HIMYM. :lolsob:β

In case anyone was wondering, the #musical episode of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds is good but is seriously diminished by a #4yo trying to sing along but not knowing the words.

Does anyone with kids with a #SensoryProcessingDisorder (or have it themselves) have a #recommendation for a cooling weighted blanket? Ideally something that can be used on the couch (e.g. not a bed sized comforter) or even just a brand rec? My #4yo has #eczema on top of their SPD and getting too hot under a normal blanket has made their eczema so much worse now that summer is here...
#BoostsAppreciated for visibility, it's hard to decide what my #4yo will like when I can't relate to their sensory needs :/

Semi-related aside: my #4yo has to be constantly in contact with me if we're sitting side by side (they have a #SensoryProcessingDisorder). Which is fine but lately they're a freaking space heater little ball of sweat.
Might be time to get a small #WeightedBlanket for them.

Should I be rewatching #LowerDecks S01 with the #4yo and #1yo? I don't know.
No, I'm serious, should I?? Am I a bad parent?

Thr welling up of emotion to the point of holding back tears of joy as I answered my #4yo's question:
"Dad, who is Optimus Prime? Are they a good guy?"
-
@DrFerrous similar situation here, except the orange cat, the #4yo, and the #1yo teamed up for collective (breakfast) bargaining. Gotta say, unions are effective.

My #4yo has a favorite cereal bowl, and won't eat breakfast out of any others if this one is unwashed.
Like and follow for this and other money-saving tips

There's a short list of kid's shows I'll let my #4yo and #1yo watch without heavy restriction, and it's:
- Wild Kratts (PBS) - so incredibly educational and engaging all at once.
- Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (PBS) - perhaps one of the best societal changes recently is the willingness to teach empathy and emotional self-awareness. Mr. Rogers would surely be proud of this continuation of his legacy.
- Bluey (Disney+) - almost more for the parents, but I think the best lesson they teach is on fairness, in play, with family, and in life.

For months we've been taking my #4yo to a local gymnastics studio.
And for months their "guest wifi" has just... not worked. Won't even connect. Not a wrong password, a failure in the handshake.
Finally today I asked the front desk (because the cellular is pretty bad in here) and I got a pretty standard "oh, it's like that sometimes, it just doesn't let some people connect".
And yet 5 minutes later my phone spuriously connects.
Pic unrelated.

#4yo, eating their bowl of cereal (which they asked for specifically), forlornely watching mom eat some scrambled eggs and #franksredhot: "Oh, I'm so cold. I wish I had some warm food without hot sauce to warm me up."

My #4yo "liberated" their tablet from their mom's custody yesterday, unlocked it (they've never been shown how to do this l or what his PIN is), FaceTimed their mom (also never been show how to do this), and told her "I decided I can have tablet time today".
What a power move.

A Venn diagram of the Backstreet Boys, philosophy professors, and 4-year-olds.
(Not my invention, I've just seen it going around in a low-quality version without @alt_text, so I wanted to share one in higher quality with alt-text provided.)
