The goal of all Buddhist
practice is to transcend our
egoistic obsession and
dispel ignorance.As Milarepa says..
"It is said you can tell whether
someone has just eaten by how
red his face is. Similarly, you can
tell whether people know and
practice the Dharma by whether
it works as a remedy for their
negative emotions and
ego-clinging."The Practice of Lojong

So if you're wondering, #Stripe cares about your #security a lot. That's why they bundle CA certificates in their binding packages and expertly wait a week before updating them. You can't remove compromised certificates just like that, that would be unprofessional.
Needless to say, I've unbundled them in #Gentoo now. And I'm ashamed I didn't notice before. I really need to check everything for *.pem, *.crt, and whatever other suffix people come up with. Or perhaps do a more specific grep across all files.

@eniko Genuinely so so happy about the Made By Humans No "AI" thing
The closest I had run across was https://brainmade.org which always just made me really sad — "90% human-made" (whatever tf that means) feels like such a missed opportunity, cedes so much ground unnecessarily
Thank you for doing this so thoughtfully, ESPCECIALLY encoding "AI"-prohibition into the license itself
I'm so happy in this moment

Still new to #Toronto, but every poll I saw and the reporting indicated that the mayor election was going to be close, or even go to Bradford. But Chow just *crushed* Bradford. Curious to know what happened. (If I could vote here, it would have been for Chow).

““ICE agents brutally attacked and broke the arm of a North Long Beach resident and U.S. citizen,” he said in a statement. “The videos are horrific and should concern not just our community but the country.”
Mayor Rex Richardson said he is outraged by agents’ actions and is demanding answers from the Department of Homeland Security.“

i keep hoping some new instagram/tumblr/pinterest pops up so i can post aimlessly into the void but not have to be speaking just to influencers all day with no response back... and i keep forgetting this account exists. everything seems overrun with ai or crypto and then i come here and it's like 2006 twitter again. comforting.

I've been reminded that among the unrealised ideas for my Foldatry tool is to give it a feature of a "backup" copy process that's smart enough to not bother copying various useless parts of the folder/file structures.
The cache folders of web browsers is an obvious example but there are probably others that are just not needed in an archive. Perhaps also image thumbnails?
Particular targets would be those with large numbers of tiny files as these often bog down copy and proof processes.

it's cool enough now to touch, especially the stuff that remained in the bowl I used (which is a prep bowl I've just decided to sacrifice to this cause, that is now a melting-oil bowl) which has much less thermal mass
it's still too early to judge but I'm thinking this batch will come off slightly more oily than I'd prefer it to be, but still cromulent
and I guess I should do about half as much next time so it all fits into the tin (it will take months for me to get to that point, heh)

10 lane freeway 101 in CA will get 174-foot-wide wildlife crossing, to save lives.
Not just to save animals - in the US, 400 will die each year from hitting a large animal with their car. This will make these stretches of highway more safe for all.

PSA:
If you've been sleeping on those buttons on your microwave that say things like "popcorn" and "reheat," you might want to reconsider.
Most people I talk to think that the buttons for specific foods just load up a pre-programmed time and power level, and assume they can do a better job themselves--but for 20+ years now, pretty much every microwave manufactured has included a moisture sensor.
The microwave ACTUALLY knows when the food is done! Try trusting it. You might be surprised.
