  1. @robdaemon The phrase “you break it, you bought it” kept coming to mind the last week while listening to #POTUS47 trying to sucker other nations into this mess. Even UK leadership seems to be uncharacteristically reluctant to join.

  2. @robdaemon @jxyzn I had my gallbladder removed (laproscopically) during the course of trying to treat my recurrent acute #pancreatitis (which is now chronic pancreatitis). It was scarred and full of sludge, which we had hoped was the smoking gun for my recurrent acute pancreatitis, but it turns out that, at best, it wasn't the only problem.

I agree with you about the southern diet's penchant for fats :( Of the triad of salt, sugar, and fat, I've always loved fat the most. Now, without my gallbladder, a super fatty meal means lots of time in the bathroom shortly after. Sometimes it's worth that trade-off. Most of the time though, I've decided that it isn't, especially if I'm out and about with others and not at home. And my pancreas also struggles with high-fat meals, so I've had to adapt to keeping daily fat intake as low as I can manage (my gastro recommends less than 50g a day).

I would say not to be too distraught about losing the gallbladder though, especially if it ameliorates the constant pain. You can still enjoy high-fat meals if you're okay with the trade-offs :)

  3. @robdaemon even the 34-pin cable is just a 26-pin with extra bits to do more than 1 floppy on one ribbon [it works like a primitive bus]...

And with you should be able to make that just work versatile...

    it is pretty cool!
Apparently it runs #Drivewire faster than the old rs232 pak. Not sure how it compares to drivewire over the bitbanger.

I never strapped together the mpi's interupt lines though, and that can be a problem.

  8. The #RGBtoHDMI project which came from some leading lights in the #Stardot community is technically excellent, and open source. Digital or analog RGB to HDMI, with a raspberry pi and a small CPLD board.

It happens to be very low latency too. And it works for very many retro computers: acorn, amstrad, spectrum, ibmpc, dragon, tandy, c64, appleii, amiga, and on and on...

Wind and solar are good sources but where they may possibly faulter is likely due to overconsumption, there are exaples of hydro and geothermal and we understand that hydrogen is a viable contender, today. Reducing consumption though is a must, eg. temperature-control #airConditioning is completely unnecessary for the vast majority.

Under KevinRudd over a decade ago, Australia had an #insulationScheme, to fit homes with insulation, we understand the US has yet to do that?
