2/ the military is literally awash with solvents. In the 80s, people in my field used a liquid freon to clean parts. It was a good solvent that would dry in seconds (and tear up the ozone layer 🤬 ). There were zero protective measures taken in the use of this solvent.
Here's another article from 2019 mentioned what appears to be a generic use of the word "Solvent" as a title for a variety of toxic chemicals used as miltiary solvents.

JAMA Neurology report examined medical records of tens of thousands of USMC and Navy veterans who trained at Camp Lejeune from 1975 to 1985. Those exposed there to water heavily contaminated with TCE had a 70% higher risk of developing Parkinson’s disease decades later than those who trained elsewhere.

Speaking of security cams I was just reminded of when I went to Taipei as part of a diplomatic delegation, my hotel room bathroom had the oddest little sort of 5 or 6-inch video monitor in it. It didn't seem to turn on at all. A cable that you couldn't disconnect was going from it through the countertop into the wall below. I was mystified and alarmed by this and covered the thing with a towel while I was there! :blobcatfearful: #SpyGames

@chuckwendig The tip of a #nuclear Nike Hercules #missile, obtained during #warhead demil prep ops in Germany (1980s). This "static tube" was slated for local disposal, meaning warhead maint crew members called dibs. This is what it looks like (this one's affixed to a warhead section & isn't mine, obviously). In the same way I also obtained a Nike Herc "safe plug" and an internal part from a nuclear 8-inch artillery projectile.

I've been happy with my #SimpliSafe system but just like a cable company I've just been informed of my new increased rate, only $2 more per month, after less than a year of service. A couple dollars more now, a couple dollars more every year until you're up to a hundred bucks a month. No effing thanks. I've been down this road. I cut the cable cord many years ago for this kind of crap. Looks like I'll just self monitor.

Since the purse thieves now have my home address, I looked into crime stats in this city. It turns out I live in the lowest crime region of the city but overall we're pretty high on crime compared to the national average. So I decided it was time to buy a home security system.
