Even with his fame and fortune, he feared the stigma of disability.
He turned that fear into advocacy.
He raises money and awareness and reminds us of the importance of compassion.
I’m eternally grateful to him for showing what disability visibility looks like and for always using his platform to make the world a better place.

Ikke ha skam eller føl på skyld, man er som regel ikke skyld i egen sykdom!
Jeg jobber nå ca. 50%. Grunnen til at jeg jobber «så lite» er redusert arbeidsevne og at jeg må ha tid til å trene mye, for trening er den beste bremsen mot Parkinsons sykdom.
Tips: Ikke bli kronisk syk. (For det rår vi jo over! 😜)

Så, mine erfaringer: Få kontakt med relevante behandlere, vær åpen, tilpass aktivitetsnivået, ha selvmedfølelse (ikke -medlidenhet) og husk egenomsorg/-pleie. Sett deg selv først, så du fungerer best mulig for deg selv og andre, deretter familie og venner. Jobb kommer til sist. Da kan aksepten få rom til å gradvis komme og en kan finne veien til et så godt liv som mulig.

Jeg har følt på mye skyld, for ikke å jobbe noe/nok, maktesløshet, overfor uforutsigbar kronisk degenerativ sykdom, og sorg, for livet mitt og andres som ble annerledes.

Jeg ble kjent med NAV og videre konsumerte jeg sykepenger til det var tomt via gradert sykemelding, søkte om ordninger hos NAV, bisto arbeidsgiver med søknad om tilskudd hos NAV. NAV var grei med oss. I tillegg kom det annen alvorlig sykdom i familien, men den historien er det ikke jeg som eier.

Symptomene mine kom snikende, ble godt merkbare i 2019/'20 og diagnosene ble satt i 2022/'23: #ParkinsonsSykdom, #utbrent, mild #depresjon og #cervicalDystoni.
Å gå fra frisk pappa/ektemann i jobb til syk, å måtte forholde meg til/ha timer hos behandlende fastlege/nevrologer/fysioterapeuter/logoped/psykiater, være på rehab. og ikke jobbe i det hele tatt i nesten 6 mnd., var krevende.
