  4. Michael J Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award and spoke about how he initially hid his Parkinson’s Disease.

Even with his fame and fortune, he feared the stigma of disability.

He turned that fear into advocacy.

He raises money and awareness and reminds us of the importance of compassion.

I’m eternally grateful to him for showing what disability visibility looks like and for always using his platform to make the world a better place.

  9. CW: The Alarming Rise in Parkinson’s Disease with Dr. Ray Dorsey

Interview of Ray Dorsey by David Perlmutter on environmental risk factors for PD

Though I'm a bit skeptical overall of Perlmutter's 'Grain Brain' hypothesis, I found the video quite informative. Perlmutter asked Dorsey some insightful questions and gained a few credibility points from me for mentioning chlorogenic acid as an active constituent of coffee.

  10. I believe I should introduce myself: I'm a Doctor of #PhysicalTherapy and a PhD Student at #UniversityofWashington. My area of interest and research focus is in understanding #vestibular function in people with Parkinson disease.
My other research interests include the role of dopamine in the vestibular system, efferent vestibular function, and sensory processing for human postural control.
