I rarely enjoy office romances but this one entertained the heck out of me. "The maid falls for the CEO!" Kinda.
Divorced woman could only get a job as a hotel maid, meets the domineering general manager and...you know what happened next haha.
The Epoch of Miyu was a dark horse - it had a modest budget and two non-traffic stars (tho Wallace Chung is a veteran and household fav of aunties across China and Southeast Asia 😆). By rights it should make a mild splash but it ended up shockingly capturing 35% of the Chinese market which is girnomous. It had a sucky 5.4 Douban rating tho, but many acknowledge that they weren't watching a literary masterpiece - they just wanna enjoy two beautiful people in a middle aged romance and they got it 😉

A short, impactful read about the impact of the Japanese internment camps in the United States on a family. Being able to write so sunccintly yet leave such a huge impact is an underrated skill.

Ok I am pleased that my investing strategy is almost exactly like his. 😁
I made a decision early on to invest in VT (global stocks) vs the more popular VOO because...I follow #geopolitics. (In fact that's one of the reasons why I keep up to date - to make financial decisions.)
I also invested in gold, something I sniffed at due to the movements I observed in the market and in geopolitics. And also hold more cash now for the same reason.
I am honestly a boring investor. I don't invest in shares well so I just stick to boring ETFs 🤭

Love that we are taking parks more seriously in Malaysia. Took a walk around the lake before starting work today.

Malaysians receive fuel subsidies. Without it, our petrol would be 2x more due to the #iranwar #oilcrisis .
I paid RM35 for 17.5l of oil which is roughly about US$9.
Because I designed life in such a way that most of my needs are a walk away, which includes clinics, supermarkets and the light rail, I use the car to drive short distances (around 6km or less) a few times a week. I also drive a fuel efficient car.
The last time I pumped petrol was on March 25 and I still had a 1/4 tank left on May 3. So, basically I can make RM50 of fuel last me nearly two months. -
Claude is the "cool kid" of the retail AI services world. However, thanks to its snobbish attitude to some geographical locations, token limitations, and corporate ethos I ended up in the arms of Mistral. Why I use Mistral and why it honestly doesn't matter how great the model is as long as it serves your needs.

"Since masters of the genre like Jin Yong penned their epics, there has been a growing female wuxia authorship that speaks to increased cultural confidence, a diversity of voices, and all-new takes on classic settings."

No matter how many times I come to KLCC Park, Kuala Lumpur s version of Central Park, I will always gain a new perspective.

Rice by Su Tong. I remember being entranced by the beauty of the prose, or rather, this translation. But I remember thinking that Western publishing houses will only translate novels from authors who depict China in a depressing light. Back then that's all the novels available in English from China.
The Chinese tradition has all kinds of novels, among them adventure and mystery stories, and I wished that the West would touch more on those. It's only in recent years that they have explored unique Chinese genres like wuxia (Louis Khoo).
