We concluded that for practical reasons I'd need to mention the "general-discussion" @ community.nodebb.org (so I'll do that)
unless someone was following me on mastodon.social.
The theory is this:
If nobody follows me on mastodon.social then my messages won't appear here because nobody on community.nodebb.org asked for them. To me this makes sense.
Exactly how it works in detail though, I don't know.

Here's a screenie showing both sides of the equation between a NodeBB installation w/ActivityPub integration and a typical Fediverse server instance on the other side - like Pleroma or Misskey family forks or Friendica, Mitra, Takahe, Socialhome, GoToSocial, Hubzilla, etc.

Following the recommendations I got, I set up a #NodeBB forum to discuss the projects #Fedilab, #Holos, #CastLab and #Fedle.
Each category federates over #ActivityPub, so you can follow it directly from your Fediverse account: @fedilab, @holos, @castlab, @fedle.

I have been thinking what it was #linkedin in the pre-crappy pre-influencer era, and it was jobs postings + professional networking + celebrating professional achievements.
If we look to build a "linkedin" in the fediverse, job postings could pretty much be (and it was for many years) forums, so #lemmy or #nodebb could achieve that. #lemmy could even foster professional discussions.
Celebrating could be #badgefed, and professional networking could happen inside #mastodon.
If you create a site with the 3, interconnected, reducing friction (e.g. single sign-on between the three) it could have some traction.
One can only dream.

@stefan would you be interested in using #transifex instead? We use it at @nodebb , and it works very well. It allows those without programming experience to contribute to the localization effort.
