"All you need are these: certainty of judgment in the present moment; action for the common good in the present moment; and an attitude of gratitude in the present moment for anything that comes your way."
- Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 9.6
The commonality being "in the present moment". We don't need to cultivate these these three... we only need to return to the present moment and we always find them.

Love Joans post - clear relatable words about thought and nondualism, without sounding too lofty.

Are you attached to the tranquility of meditation?
Are you attached to the Mind?

After blocking most annoying things on the web already, one of the main design anti-features that still annoys me is those login screens that default to entering an email address, and then it emails you sign in link to log in 🤦♂️.
Jeezus. Most sane people will be using a password manager these days with a hot key or autofill set up, and such a design just gets in the way of that secure instant login convenience.

Trying to get away from this type of language when talking about online experience:
"There are Users consuming content made by creators on apps".
It might sound trivial but notice the humanizing effect when we talk about it more like this instead:
"There are people, looking to enrich their lives with useful information or engage with community online"

I see this meme/quote going around:
"It's OK to #resistcapitalism on an iPhone. The feudal lord who owned the pitchforks the peasants killed him with prob observed the irony too"
IMO, while fine to use an existing iPhone (or any phone), buying a new one every 1-3 years, like they want you to, and playing into bloated desires they feed you through subtle marketing, is what fuels the furnace of capitalism.
Resistance could just be relaxing and de-coupling from over-consumption where possible.

This morning I #decluttered some annoying judgements in my brain by doing a 10 minute #metta loving kindness #meditation.
While I meditate most days, I don't often focus on this style, but I really should more often. It is powerful for #mentalhealth, not to mention an antidote against being stirred up by relationships and over-stimulation from the Internet.

I learned how to have a real verified ☑️ decentralized online identity proof... instead of buying a "blue tick" from a central website run by any rando:

This is an annoying problem inherent with multi-instance apps but the good news is it goes away by installing the #fediact extension https://github.com/Lartsch/FediAct and/or using a mobile app like #Fedilab.
In both cases, the follow button will be injected and work for you on any instance for any user, fully seamlessly in one click, like magic, as you rightly expect it should!
It's unfortunate that this is not communicated to new users, because Mastodon sucks without it.

I have been using the popular "Mastodon – Simplified Federation!" browser extension for a while to make it easier to follow people on other #mastodon instances.
BUT now I switched to #FediAct https://github.com/lartsch/FediAct which seems to work more seamlessly, without any extra popups. It even lets me directly follow or vote on polls on other servers, and the follow button on others servers correctly becomes Unfollow if I already follow them. Theres 2 other extensions: Graze and Roam, anyone tried?

Ive been a big fan of the #Libby app for borrowing #ebooks and #audiobooks from my public #library, but I also recently discovered the #Beamafilm app for similarly watching movies and series.
Its mainly docos, art-house and indie stuff which you wont always find on big streaming platforms but that's exactly what I was looking for.
I was specifically looking for "The Cleaners" (2018), which was not available on any big platform.. prob since it's a doco about how big tech controls what we see...

Also I feel a lot of the sci fi vibes is just #techwashing. Making it feel like these companies are on the verge of some breakthrough and/or working to better mankind, so we don't all come at them with the monopoly smashing hammer, like back in the day.
