  1. This is vitally important. There's no time to waste. Huge corporations are allowed to get away with tax avoidance/evasion but Labour are continuing the 'Tory 'scrounger' tropes, targeting the vulnerable. You could be next!

They're trying to sneak legislation through whilst drawing attention elsewhere.

  2. @vfrmedia @LJClements8

    Absolutely Alex.

So much for #Starmer ‘s “change”. It’s more of the #neoliberal same for us plebs, whilst those who think they’re our betters continue to line their pockets at an incredible rate.

I remember when I had hope, when circumstances improved year on year. That changed long ago and now I dread the future. Will my lifestyle deteriorate and how quickly? The proportion of my income taken up by utilities bills alone is frightening. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Bring on the revolution.

You have your opinion, I have mine.

By your calculation, #NorthShields #Tynemouth #Cullercoats and #WhitleyBay should all be classified as #Newcastle too.

I suppose by your logic you’re from Sunderland.

  7. @SteveClough

My daughter recently switched her broadband provider to PlusNet.

I have to say their customer service has been absolutely excellent. Called with a couple of queries - due to poor responses from Sky, the previous provider. Agents were knowledgeable and helpful.

#PlusNet went above and beyond. I'll be switching when my contract ends.

Give me 'under-promise and over-deliver' every time.

  8. @TalktoBeverley

It's terrible what Israel is doing with the support of our governments.

Short term there seems no way to stop even the support of our governments quickly.

This "set in their ways" aspect needs to shift a lot if #ClimateChange is to be addressed.

It did change briefly and partially for the beginning of the #CovidPandemic before snapping back.

Some quick change is possible already.

But how to evoke mass action by voters such that govs will listen and respond to #Gaza?

Trying unsuccessfully to find a specific interview with #JamesFlynn, an intelligence/IQ researcher.
From memory he has us as increasingly more abstract and categorising in our thinking. But with reducing historical and moral contexts to draw on.

  10. My GP has prescribed statins. After a discussion, I was convinced I should take them.

But I got home, read the accompanying leaflet, and now I'm not so sure...

It sounds as though I'm casting into the ether for medical advice, which is ridiculous, but I just can't seem to settle my mind.

  11. It's so difficult to make ethical choices when purchasing.

My washing machine 'died' mid-week, though after at least 20 years service I suppose it doesn't owe me anything. I cdn't buy the model I wanted at my preferred store so I reluctantly bought from #Currys (UK).

The next morning I received a faux service call and the guy proceeded to try to sell me insurance. I tried to stop his spiel, but he just carried on with his script. After 4 "No thank you"s, at increasing volume, I hung up.

    GAH!

    Look at the attendance!

Such a pity so many of the other locations weren't as big.

  13. #WomensRugby #Sunderland

My daughter and I always watch the Women's Rugby together, so we're really looking forward to the match this afternoon.

We went to the first match of the 2025 tournament in Sunderland and it was a fantastic experience as we had excellent seats.

However, you can still miss some of the action, so it brings home the fantastic work of the cameramen (?) and director to bring viewers all the action.

    Can't wait! C'mon #RedRoses

Seven years cancer-free. (🤞 Don’t want to jinx it!)

Ignore cheap ‘readers’ if you can. Didn’t want to take my ‘good’ pair into the hospital.

  15. I’m fed up of Starmer supporters parroting versions of the line that he ‘won’ the general election by a landslide. No. It wasn’t his win. It was a vote for ‘anyone but the ‘Tories’.

I suppose they have to find something to say in support but for me it just emphasises how completely out of touch they are and how they’ll say anything to justify their position.

  16. If you squint, you might be able to see a watery patch of sunshine on the sea. #StMarysLighthouse was a ghostly apparition this morning.

Too 'cheap' to pay for parking, my chosen street parking spot has the added bonus of daffodils and hyacinths for some colour and makes me walk a little further rather than parking on The Links.

Have you had your walk yet @tompearce49 ?

  17. @Dolphinchaz

Yes, we watch dolphins, seals and lots of bird life from 'ours'. Though the (very small) island is closed off until September for renovations of the lighthouse. She's enrobed in scaffolding just now. She made the local news this morning.

    Have a lovely day.

I don't doubt Jill thinks she is the voice of reason.

It's terrifying to me that people have such beliefs in the face of no evidence other than what is fundamentally 'gossip' (nonsense on social media or the soundbites of fascists...)

    GRRR...

Meantime, a vulnerable family member is terrified of the pervading atmosphere and what potentially lies ahead.

We usually see them regularly around this time of year, south of you in #WhitleyBay, but they seem to prefer #Roker #Sunderland at the moment, a little further south from me. 💙
