🧑🏫 Join us THIS THURSDAY for our #CPCCGWebinar with Jan Einhoff @MPIDR and Vincent Ramos (University of #Southampton).
They will discuss findings that show how #welfare retrenchment may play a role in stalling the transition to #residential independence disproportionately among the most vulnerable #youngadults in the #labourmarket.

You're absolutely right; it's completely ridiculous.
I don't understand what they hope to achieve.
You mention history, but think how many times they've had to backtrack in the last year, the backlash from #WinterFuel and #WelfareReform... It's as though they've got a death wish... Or do they really think they can push through a Trump-style state if they're just sufficiently determined?
That said, a country that voted for #Brexit, put the likes of Johnson in power...🤷🏻♀️

And if you are wondering why the beancounters at the Treasury didn’t think they needed to consult key stakeholders(#disability organisations and charities) in their so called #WelfareReform proposals before putting it out for public consumption…well that would be because #Economics students (of whom the Treasury is composed) think their subject is amoral, morality simply doesn’t come into their decision making.

Well, if my health tracker is to be believed, I had 3 hours 27 minutes #sleep last night.
Exactly what I needed to face another day of caring and dealing with #UniversalCreditMigration on behalf of 'my person'.
Happy Thursday everyone. Blue sky and the sun is shining, which is lovely, though I heard a piece saying reservoirs are only half-full which sounds scary. 🤷🏻♀️
#WelfareReform has created quite the atmosphere. Really hard to shake off the feeling of #Doom

Don't know how I'll sleep tonight. My average has been poor on a 'good' day. Today has not been a good day. As for the vulnerable person in my life... it's unlikely they'll sleep at all, going by past experience.
Thank you #LiNO
I was sceptical there'd be hope after your promises of #Change
I was not wrong.
Back to who knows how many hours on hold tomorrow...
-
Thank you. I feel supported by your comments.
I've been beating myself up, annoyed that I allowed myself to be baited and trying to convince myself it was 'him not me'.
As any long-term carer will no doubt agree, one is exhausted in the first place without additional burdens/hoops to jump through.

AWFUL, HORRIBLE experience calling the Universal Credit line on behalf of a vulnerable family member...
Robotic individual who answered was extremely unhelpful, kept talking over me and eventually put the 'phone down on me!
And no, I wasn't abusive, didn't swear at him... but WHAT THE F*CK?
I think the atmosphere/environment created by the political class, supported by the media is at play here...
So more hours on hold tomorrow as I try to resolve the situation.

Had to switch off 'Politics Live'... then got distracted by some domestics...
Cd the BBC offer presenters more blatantly biased than Vicki Young? Yarping at and interrupting Stella Creasy.
SC "Are you suggesting we should use 'phone-ins as the basis for evidence...?" (Nice one!)
VY "But people will be watching this who know people who shouldn't be getting PIP" (Heard of 'invisible disabilities' Vicki?)
Yeah Vicki, the well-known experts down the pub! FFS!

Watching 'Newsnight'... might have to turn it off... not sure my blood pressure can bear it...
Ian Byrne 👏🏻
#StarmerIsATory , he is totally inept, has no principles. It is long past time he was gone.
Change? What change? He's dishing up more of the same and not even in a competent fashion!
He looks like a fool and is making other people make idiots of themselves.
I know I'm not coherent! So angry!

Liz Kendall talking absolute bollocks...
Something about Starmer "securing" a win... No, he absolutely did not.
The 'Tories lost the election, Labour didn't 'win'.
Whatever goodwill people felt has been thrown away. I can't see them coming back from this.

... I didn't complete it, due to the concerns of my person on how the information might be used and whether it would genuinely be anonymous.
The fact that they knew I hadn't completed it doesn't preclude anonymity, but it doesn't provide confidence either.
-
I understand cabinet responsibility, but in the case of #WelfareReform , surely a matter of morals and integrity, I don't know how they can remain in position and sleep at night.
Regarding 'consultation', I have received two letters and two telephone calls asking me to complete a questionnaire on behalf of the person for whom I care, supposedly anonymously, on how they use their PIP income.

In a very strange state of mind today and have very little motivation (hence mindless scrolling...)
Wonder if it's just my body trying to recover from yesterday's heat?
The 10 degrees lower is very welcome, but since my thyroid was removed I struggle with temperature regulation.
Mind you, the anxiety over the #WelfareReform bill is not helping. I know the person for whom I care is in a state of terror, and I'm not far behind for their sake.
I absolutely detest #StarmerIsATory

"We ask you to reconsider the proposals, delay plans for legislation until a full impact assessment has been completed, and implement measures which alleviate, rather than exacerbate, the poverty that carers currently experience."
-
"We write to express our deep concern regarding key aspects of the Government’s welfare reform proposals. These changes will see an unprecedented cut to benefits for unpaid carers and a significant reduction in household income for disabled people and their families."

I'm regretting I've not done enough on this topic, and I doubt this will be of much help, but it's something.

So "In 2024 a single person needed to earn £28,000 for minimum acceptable standard of living". Anyone care to guess how much a single person receives on Universal Credit?
Then can you tell me how the hell they survive, because I have no clue how they do it?
Every MP who votes for #WelfareReform should be made to exist on that sum, without access to any savings, for at least a year.
