A somewhat difficult to interpret structure, currently thought to be related to game shooting activities (there are many hides around). Seems built atop earlier manganese spoil heaps. The four vertical stone posts, clearly to support a roof, have these lovely curves cut into them, into which timbers fitted. Never seen these anywhere before.

Pretty remote 'buarth' (sheepfold) near Crib Nantlle (Nantlle Ridge). As always, it's built where there was a ready supply of scree stone, here Pitts Head Tuff, and lies on a route over a 'bwlch' (mountain pass) between the Nantlle and Pennant valleys.

Ah, the days when you could afford (once a week) to heat water with an electric immersion heater!

A bit of recording pastoral features in the mountains of Eryri - and making good use of the old sheep washing pool for myself for ten minutes (surprisingly tolerable water)!

A reminder that, in late May, the N hemisphere noctilucent cloud season starts again.
Best time throughout the season is from local midnight towards dawn, looking N-NE, typically around 15 degrees above a clear horizon, but sometimes much higher.
Deep twilight evening displays, (N/NW) are common, but a cold atmospheric tide means they are more likely in the post-midnight period. Not visible at day.
The season closes early-mid August. Climate may be extending the season.

Rhoscolyn this lunchtime. Lovely day, nice breeze. Always great examples of regional metamorphism, both in the New Harbour turbidites and the psammite.
Do help my understanding if needed - I am but an enthusiastic learner!

I'm beginning to see shortages of wholemeal wheat across several local large-chain stores in north Wales.
Wheat crops are under immense pressure. Perhaps that is now starting to be felt in supplies.

When I die, I might insist on everyone sitting through the whole 1hr and 11 minutes of Vaughan Williams' profound 'The Sea Symphony'.
