CW: re: New #introduction for the latest greatest #twitterMigration
@semioticstandard I actually put a little of my money where my mouth is into #Owncast and regular shout 'em out on my livestream, and also #JMPchat which has freed me of Big Telecom. I couldn't do the stream without #OBS, so I bring that project up fairly often. Of course I can't forget #ArchLinux, and #nextcloud, which extricated me from MS and about 90% of Google. -

Aikaisemmin kaikki sujui moitteetta. Miksi nyt alkoi tökkiä?

Just discovered that the reason why gvim sometimes behaved oddly when forwarding from an Ubuntu machine to my Arch VM was due to ssh -X vs ssh -Y.

@stefano #ArchLinux works well but setup is really not simple. #NFTables or #IPTables are more complicated for me than #PF. Even #IPFW is easier to understand than NFTables or IPTables.
I already managed a small server powered by #FreeBSD: I love to manually install and setup my apps to understand who they work. I learn a lot this way. -

To my surprise after updating my main machine Xorg absolutely refuses to start up even with the LTS kernel. Usually I can still being able to use the LTS kernel with Xorg when occasionally this happens, but not this time.
When I looked at my driver's AUR package there was a comment linking to the arch forums providing the patch and some help how to do the patching, which was really handy especially because I rarely needed to patch anything myself. -
🇬🇧 Arch Linux PSA: please remember to clean your pacman cache regularly!
Pacman, your system's package manager, keeps all versions of packages you have ever downloaded on your system. This is to ensure that you can roll back or downgrade your system to an earlier point easily if something breaks. After years of using the computer though, this cache becomes really really big and can grow indefinitely in size.
Use the
paccacheutility (part of the packagepacman-contrib, install that if necessary) to clear that cache.paccache -ddoes a dry run, showing you how much space is taken up by useless package caches you no longer need.paccache -rremoves all but the three latest versions of the packages you cache, so you're still safe and can still roll-back your system if needed.
More information, including on how to automate this, on the ArchWiki:

If you have the same issue on something Arch-related or Arch itself, there's a fix that's being worked on in the testing repo according to this forum thread:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=299450
#ArchLinux #Nvidia #Linux #NvidiaLinux #Arch #EndeavourOS (that's what I use and I figure this might be good info for other users to know ahead of time if they haven't updated yet or if they have and aren't sure what's going on)

Today is World Autism Awareness Day https://www.un.org/en/observances/autism-day - and I know how it is to have it.
Switching to #ArchLinux :archlinux: is easily the best change I have ever done in my #OpenSource :opensource: journey.
However, as described in https://fosstodon.org/@tsvenson/114126078802389690 - it wouldn't have been possible due to my struggles with undiagnosed #ADHD and #Autism.
I'm happier than ever before: Now when I have gotten the help needed to - on my own - unblock and overcome what hindered me before 🥰
