Marcus Aurelius Monday! Selected Quotes!
Drum Roll! Here is this week’s quote from Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius – known as the "Philosopher King".
"If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. It is the person who continues in his self-deception and ignorance who is harmed."

Interesting comparison ... the total cost to deploy a 1 GW data center in space vs. ground based. Satellite based ~ $51B, including launch and five years of operational expenses. Ground based ~ $16B over the same period.
Note: Satellite based #'s assumes leveraging multi-purpose space craft aka outfitting Starlink craft with space hardened ASICs/GPUs vs. launching dedicated data center satellites. https://spectrum.ieee.org/orbital-data-centers #Satellites #DataCenters #Space #Orbit #OrbitalDataCenter #Power #SolarPower #SpaceCraft

We got approved to be a Bank, but don;t call us a Bank!
Crypto exchange Coinbase has received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to charter Coinbase National Trust Company - aka become a bank.
That said, CoinBases states "Coinbase is not becoming a commercial bank. We will not be taking retail deposits. We will not be engaging in fractional reserve banking."
Coinbase sees this as the next step in providing federal regulatory uniformity and clear oversight over digital assets. https://www.coinbase.com/blog/coinbase-receives-conditional-occ-approval-building-the-future-of-finance

The NTSB investigated two fatal 2024 crashes involving vehicles using Ford Motor Company’s hands-free partial automation system, BlueCruise, failed to stop for stationary vehicles.
The NTSB concluded that the drivers’ over reliance on the automated system contributed to both crashes. The driver monitoring systems were also found to be ineffective at detecting driver distraction or disengagement.
The NTSB called out that there are no federal requirements for these systems to record data during crashes, which often means that manufacturers lack information to comply with NHTSA’s standing general order requiring them to report crashes involving this technology.

The U.S. Space Force officially took ownership of the GPS Next Generation Operational Control System, or OCX, from contractor RTX on July 1, 2025, yet it is still not operational!
The OCX program is a large-scale, highly complex ground control system designed to operate the most modern fleet of GPS satellites, GPS III.
The Space Force operates a fleet of 32 GPS satellites, which serve both military users and civilians. The GPS III satellites, nine of which have been launched, are more jam-resistant and precise than older variants. See my article on GPS Jamming here: https://techaptitude.substack.com/p/gps-jamming-the-risks-are-real?r=vn8b8
OCX was originally to be delivered in 2016 for a cost of $3.7 billion. The cost estimate for OCX has ballooned to nearly $8 billion, and its persistent delays have earned it a reputation within the space community as a “troubled” program. https://www.airandspaceforces.com/pentagon-eyes-canceling-troubled-gps-ground-system/ #GPS #UDSF #SpaceForce #GPSIII #OCX #Pentagon #DoD #Satellites #Navigation #Security

Quantum Physics – things that make you go Hmm.
What happens when matter crosses the event horizon of a black hole? We don’t know is the quick answer.
Theory #1, all matter is compressed into an infinitely dense state at the black hole’s singularity. At that point, the laws of physics as defined by Einstein's general relativity no longer apply.
Theory #2, proposes the existence of opposite objects to black holes known as white holes. These would expel material rather than draw it in. Wormholes between the two could connect different locations in our universe or possibly connect our universe with other parallel universes.
There is no evidence for the existence of white holes, and none have ever been observed. Black holes have been observed through indirect and direct methods.
The question of what happens to matter that falls into a black hole remains unresolved. This problem is known as the black hole information paradox.
