good interview with two good dudes who really know what they're talking about (@gilduran.com + david z morris) going through epstein's deep and persistent involvement with #bitcoin/#crypto from the very earliest days. (ICYMI epstein was sending emails about how one of his life goals was to make a lot of money in #virtualcurrency in 2009 just as bitcoin was invented, he met the core dev team in 2011, and he started paying all the developers' salaries ca. 2015).
epstein didn't really understand "the tech" but the #EpsteinFiles make it very clear he was miles ahead of all the 25 year old anarchist crypto bros he was emailing with as far as appreciating how crypto could be used for financial crimes like #moneylaundering.

A new group of Coinbase stockholders has filed a derivative lawsuit in Delaware. This is a follow on suit to an original suit filed in April 2023, alleging the company's leadership including CEO Armstrong, and top investors, including Marc Andreessen over an alleged years long scheme involving insider trading of billions of dollars worth of company stock.
The allegations amount to a type of insider trading claim that Armstrong, Andreessen, and others avoided roughly $1B in losses by selling $2.9B worth of stock following Coinbase’s 2021 direct listing.
Further, information was allegedly withheld from investors, Coinbase insiders (Armstrong, Andreessen), sold $4.2B worth of stock in the company. "For months, a small company in San Francisco has been pursuing a secretive project: the birth of a genetically engineered baby.

They are working toward creating a child born from an embryo edited to prevent a hereditary disease. In recent months, executives at the company privately said a couple with a genetic disease had been identified who was interested in participating, according to people familiar with the conversations.
Gene-editing technologies now in use for treatment after birth allow scientists to cut, edit and insert DNA, but using the process in sperm, eggs or embryos is far more controversial and has prompted calls by scientists for a global moratorium until the ethical and scientific questions get resolved. Editing genes in embryos with the intention of creating babies from them is banned in the U.S. and many countries.
