@Mark Those batteries are quite cheap for today’s prices. I think mine are about $300, but the the originals from Mercedes-Benz did last 13 years on BOTH cars! 🤩
We replaced one with a #Varta who were the OEM supplier for the car. The other we replaced with a #Bosch, since no Varta options were available.
I asked my mechanic how likely it was that an #Interstate battery would last 13 years. His reply? 0% chance.

@serichards that would be a brilliant idea IMO.
Today, there are two sides. Those advocating for EV’s on social media describing how well they’re doing, and those actively campaigning against EV’s promoting horror stories, environmental issues etc.
Responsible consumers are left in the middle not knowing what to do.
A program like this could be great, with experts debating both sides of the various arguments, and real experiences from users and potential buyers.

The #Princess is a very British experience, so it’ll seem odd to many outside of Europe, but having driven a few old British automobiles like the #AustinMaxi, I can understand her excitement for this 2200 HLS in it’s old fashioned British glory.

In the 🇺🇸, Stellantis represents Jeep, Dodge, RAM trucks and what’s left of Chrysler.
Overseas, they represent much more, having taken over GM’s 100 year loss making operations in Europe when they were still PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme), and making them profitable within a single year.
#CarlosTavares is the new #CarlosGhosn of Renault-Nissan fame.

@richardknott @xtaran I think that of all the cars mentioned, or from the 2CV era, the one I’d most like to own would be the #CitroënAmi Super, with the flat 4, 1015 cm³ engine.
I read somewhere that this engine was originally designed for the brand new #CitroënGS but they decided it was too small for that car (including driving the hydropneumatique suspension). So to exhaust the supply, they stuck it in a fastback Ami and called it Super. 😂

Nothing else has such mind blowing curvaceous design cues for an historic architectural home like this.
For the second vehicle, and some added practicality for local driving, I’m going with the #BMWi3. A modern classic in its own right.

@richardknott @xtaran Peugeot tried, I think, especially with the #CitroënXM and #CitroënC6, but it didn’t go that well. Hence perhaps the #DSAutomobiles brand. 🤷♂️
French friends tell me Citroën had become a brand for “old guys”: people wanting a new DS, and neither the CX, XM, C5 or C6 resembled the DS sufficiently for their liking. The just wanted a new DS that looked exactly like the old DS.

I think it’s misguided, but some people rely on #TheBirdShite to forward traffic to their YouTube channel, which might be their only source of revenue. It might be a flawed long term strategy, but I’m not perfect either.

@Tiezep I’ve driven one for quite a few miles over several days, including 80 mph (in 🇫🇷 where legal).
They’re not bad at all. The one I borrowed had semi-automatic climate control and a semi-automatic transmission whereby there is NO clutch, but you had to hold the gear lever and push it manually from 1 through 5 & reverse. The clutch is automatic, based on holding the gear knob or something. 😂

@richardknott this is the vision of #CarlosTavares who recently stated that #Citroën had to be a budget brand for #Stellantis to compete directly with #Dacia, the budget brand from #Renault.
Maybe channelling the thinking behind the #2CV “people’s car”? 🤷♂️

@Basmitharts the #Ioniq5N with 8 fake gears is pointless and wastes energy.
A transmission overcomes the inherent weakness of an ICE, attempting to match torque to driving requirements at different speeds.
All an EV needs is clever regeneration to simulate downshifting before a bend, and it already has instant acceleration out of a bend. Add a boost setting if you want.
The rest is stupidity I won’t pay for. It lowers my opinion of #Hyundai that they want to sell this.

@SteveInVentura Tesla has only been making a profit since 2020. That profit has dropped to similar levels to other automakers in 2023. #Stellantis is currently more profitable. “Welcome to my world” opined #CarlosTavares a few months ago.
They have also abandoned the premium segment. Model S and X cars in 2023 represent less than 5% of the total.
Tesla P/E = 60
BMW P/E = 5
MBZ P/E = 4
Stellantis P/E = 3So what is Tesla really worth?
$212 today, or $20? 🤔

@Basmitharts @vinc If you check out the #CitroënOli concept, there are some inspiration cues from that, and the previous C3 was also a bit rugged and boxy, so it’s not far off.
Seems to be based on the #Peugeot e-208, but with LFP chemistry to make it cheaper.
Like the Oli concept, it is unabashedly designed to make it affordable, offering 113 hp to compete with the mere 65 hp of the #DaciaSpring.
Hard to say if it’ll work out, but I applaud the concept.
