Every once in a blue moon, Pitchfork still manages to catch my attention.
Here's a decent introduction to the musical collective #ArtEnsembleOfChicago by way of a review of their 1979 album "Nice Guys".
Kids. Go check out this hot Long Playing(LP) album (now available in stereophonic sound) now! It even got a 9.5 rating by those Pitchfork hipsters! Now that's a sign of quality.

When I said "We want the funk. Gotta have the funk", I really should have clearly
specified which exact funk it was that we wanted.Lesson learned.

Judging by the number of "breaks" I've been taking all afternoon, I seem to be a bit irked and anxious about my writing -->revising -->formatting -->publishing workflow.
Seems unnecessarily clunky and cumbersome(this also includes the sudden, inexplicable loss of any spelling ability I may have, previously, possessed).
Hopefully, this year, I can improve on the process.

Post #CataractSurgery update:
My partner's been meandering through the house all week, alternately opening and closing each eye. She'll stop in front of me, point at the "bad" eye, and say "I need to get this one done too. I should've scheduled to get this one done too." I'm concerned.
All of the fear and apprehension are gone now. If she had five or ten eyeballs, she'd be signed up to get each one of them lasered. She's hooked.
Don't let this happen to you, kids. Once you start getting lasers shot into your eyeballs....
-
Off to the eyeballologist for my partner's date with a laser and a temporary eye patch.
I'm hoping she has the good humor to talk to me like a pirate for the rest of the time she is in recovery.

'tis the season for power outages. Just returning from a four hour vacation in meatspace. Yay.

Off the top of my head, I can't really think of many/any bands that cover #PsychicTV; but, this particular one is a favorite in my book.
Since the original Dreams Less Sweet[1983] release, I've always been fond of these lyrics:
"When all the numbers swim together and all the shadows settle
When doors forced open shut again a flytrap and a petal
My eyes burn and claws rush in to fill them
And in the morning after the night i fall in love with the light
It is so clear i realize and here at last i have my eyes"Califone - The Orchids

"Rhino Linux re-invents the Ubuntu experience as a rolling-release distribution built on a stable desktop environment. Pacstall is at the very heart of the distribution, providing essential packages such as the Linux kernel, Firefox, and distinctive Rhino Linux applications and theming. "

ZDNet out there pimpin' a "new coolest Linux distribution" with #Xfce in 2024!
"Rhino is a Ubuntu-based, rolling-release Linux distribution, which essentially means all software is updated as soon as the developers roll out the new version....Rhino uses a modern take on the highly efficient and customizable Xfce desktop (dubbed "Unicorn") to help make the interface immediately familiar to anyone who logs in."

"African Head Charge captured the essence of a society grappling with its contradictions. It is the sound of diasporic cultures coming together not as an exotic, consumable sharing platter but as an army of resistance....marks a ground-breaking new chapter of a culturally significant and vital ethnomusicological story and serves as an antidote to the cultural imperialism of world music."

Published a short #HOWTO on resolving "collation version mismatch" warnings when upgrading PostgreSQL in Docker containers(specifically Django applications).
Part of my ongoing quest to get my notes off of my local harddrive....
If my enthusiasm(!) continues, I may, eventually, migrate off of blogspot.https://suburbanalities.blogspot.com/2026/02/postgresql-collation-version-mismatch.html

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
Beautiful rendition. Completely different from the techbro pseudo-appropriation.

Allow opening local file(s) file:/// URI, add the following three lines to user.js in current profile:
user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "localfilelinks");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites", "https://testing.cool");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled", "allAccess");Grrrr....

Thanks for this.
While not as pithy as the article you posted, I found this one 3 or 4 years ago and have re-read it a few times.
It helps provide a bit perspective when I get into "burn it all down mode" on some of my projects. Or, conversely, when I see myself being curmudgeonly resistant to some new practice. YMMV

Upgrading one of my #Django apps from 4.2.8 to 5.0.1 and ran into the following error in my tests:
"AttributeError: 'BlankChoiceIterator' object has no attribute '__len__'. Did you mean: '__le__'?"
Turns out this is an open issue (not just with django-countries TextChoices fields) & was able to successfully patch & upgrade with the workaround provided here:
