  6. Supernova 1987A was discovered on Feb 24, 1987.
    Four days after discovery, its progenitor star was tentatively identified as Sanduleak −69 202, a blue supergiant, a high-mass high-luminosity star.

    One theory about SN 1987A is that it was a binary star system, in which the smaller companion merged into the more massive star. Subsequently, around 170K years ago, the star went supernova, ejecting matter and shockwaves into the surrounding gas/dust disk.

  10. I have been using @thunderbird for the longest time now since I ever needed email. To be honest I've used it when I needed to then left, but something always brought me back to #Thunderbird.

    Recently I found out about the #ThunderCast #podcast and it's great to hear from this open source team and the time and energy to keep it modern. Just updated to the #SuperNova 115 version and it's awesome!

    The podcast is where I learned Thuderbird has addons too!

    Time to see how well I can replicate either the #Chromevox and/or #Talkback keyboard experience with the #jieshuo screen reader's 'Hotkey Scheme' feature. The default has 'waaaaaaaay' too many conflicts in my view (particularly if using web browsers that support keyboard shortcuts).

    And since people are able to share said keyboard layouts, anyone thought of creating a #WindowEyes or #SuperNova/#Hal layout?

  14. The AAVSO light curve of #supernova #2023ixf to date shows the fireball continuing to redden (i.e., it's getting fainter at blue wavelengths more quickly than in the red). There's still some subtype uncertainty; how this proceeds will determine if it's a IIP or a IIL. #astronomy
