@ecliptik @w4v3 So both #UUCP and #FidoNet are not much used anymore. Both were big in the #1980s. Both were ways of exhcanging information over phone lines, but now run mostly over #Internet. Both are #asynchronous, #StoreAndForward systems. The idea being, to send a message from point A to point D, system A might call up system B, B calls up C, and C calls up D. So a message may take hours or days to get across, in the old times. 1/

I wish we had a "universal" lightweight federated protocol for transmiting asynchronously messages. Kinda like email, but less text-y and with more emphasis in security and privacy, and designed to be a base for future federated services.
Ideally it would be a bit like #OnionRouting but without the "double encryption" to save on processing time. (I want this to work even on #Arduino)
Perhaps this could be my final year project for my bachelors in computer science. What do y'all think?

Так уж получилось, что, устроившись на свою первую работу, я был вынужден напрямую столкнуться с Project Reactor в некоторых сервисах (чего, честно говоря, совсем не ожидал). Почесав репу, я понял, что придется мне идти курить доку, так как знаний по данной теме у меня, мягко говоря, было немного (знал Reactor примерно на уровне: чем отличается Mono от Flux ). В процессе чтения возникла гениальнейшая идея - попрактиковать свои навыки понимания тех. литературы на английском, при этом еще и разобравшись в необходимой мне теме, попутно исполнив свою хотелку написать статью для Хабра. Так и родился мой перевод вводной страницы из документации по реактору.

Einen gut versteckten Schalter umgelegt (FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS) und damit #AsynchronousIO aktiviert - und schon sinkt die Laufzeit von 2h auf 7min. #Mirakel 😏
Aber warum ist diese Einstellung nicht längst Default ?!? 😩

One of the ways I disagree with many of my esteemed fellow Rust people is that I think #async #RustLang is great. Switching #nextest over to #asynchronous Rust has yielded incredible dividends, including but not limited to what I described in https://sunshowers.io/posts/nextest-and-tokio/.
The ability to write cross-platform heterogenous selects provides an extraordinary amount of power.
BTW, now that I'm at @oxidecomputer, I've been trying out nextest on #illumos and it works with zero (0) code changes!
