🌉 From 1 July 2026, an 18-tonne weight restriction will be introduced on #Vauxhall Bridge as a precaution after a recent inspection identified deterioration in parts of the structure. #Transport for #London (TfL) said the bridge remains safe, but limiting heavier vehicles will help prevent further damage while longer-term plans are developed.
Buses and emergency vehicles will be exempt, and bus services will continue as normal. Around 0.5% of traffic—about 200 vehicles a day, mainly heavy goods vehicles—will be diverted via signed alternative routes in both directions. The bridge has already banned abnormal loads over 44 tonnes since 2023.
#TfL said routine inspections across its network found reduced load-bearing capacity compared with earlier assessments. The restriction will stay in place while repairs are progressed and a long-term solution is developed, with TfL emphasising safety as the priority and apologising for disruption.

💷📈 On 8 May 2026, Fitch Ratings affirmed #Transport for London’s (TfL) Long-Term Foreign- and Local-Currency Issuer Default Ratings at ‘AA-’ and Short-Term rating at ‘F1+’, with Stable Outlooks. The rating reflects Fitch’s view that extraordinary support from the #UK Government would be extremely likely if needed, given TfL’s status as a government-related entity. TfL’s Standalone Credit Profile is ‘a+’, supported by a stronger risk profile and a financial profile in the ‘bbb’ category. Fitch expects net adjusted debt to EBITDA to average around 8.4x over the rating horizon to 2030. #TfL remains a key public body responsible for London’s transport network, including buses, rail, roads, cycling infrastructure and road charging schemes such as the Congestion Charge and ULEZ. While revenues are expected to rise moderately, leverage is projected to remain elevated and financial headroom constrained.

Improving passenger #transport – #Hertfordshire #Essex Rapid #Transit (HERT) is a proposed sustainable east–west network to improve connectivity across Hertfordshire. It would carry more people than cars and offer faster, more reliable journeys than conventional buses, linking towns, rail stations and growth areas.
After reviewing options including rail and bus rapid transit, a trackless tram has been selected as the preferred mode due to its capacity, flexibility, lower cost and quicker delivery.
The scheme aims to support economic growth, reduce congestion and emissions, and improve access to jobs and services through electric vehicles, walking and cycling links, and mobility hubs.
It will be delivered in phases using a ‘building block’ approach alongside bus improvements, with no fixed completion date. Public engagement and events are planned for May 2026 across Hertfordshire.

🏴🏞️ #Transport for #Wales (TfW) one-day charity rail tour raised £1,337 for the #Railway Children and the Alzheimer’s Society following a special excursion on Saturday 25 April. The service carried 115 passengers aboard a Class 67-hauled set of Mark 4 carriages named “Gerald of Wales / Y Gerallt Gymro”. The journey ran from Holyhead along the North Wales coast, through the Welsh Marches to Swansea, before returning via the same route.
The itinerary included sections not usually used by passenger services, such as freight loops and the Leckwith Loop between Ninian Park and the South Wales Main Line. TfW said the event, delivered with the 225 Group and Branch Line Society, highlighted strong collaboration and would see funds split between the two charities. The Alzheimer’s Society thanked all involved for helping raise vital support. The locomotive used was 67029.
